Your computer explodes when you criticize CCP

Then my pc will be just fine

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 50 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Xi will trace my IP address and send me a Panera gift card for the good work I've been doing.

[–] MeetMeAtTheMovies@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That might be too close to foreign intervention for China’s tastes

[–] techpeakedin1991@lemmy.ml 28 points 1 month ago

I do believe your PC just exploded.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 73 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Your computer explodes when you criticize CCP

you appear to have misspelled "the zionist entity's pager attack maimed and blinded a large number of children"

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 26 points 1 month ago

No they consider that a good thing not something they can use to critique

[–] EatPotatoes@hexbear.net 66 points 1 month ago (1 children)

“You buy this and your data gets sent to China lmao.”

What a way to say I don't understand computers even on a fundmentally physical level.

[–] stink@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Even people in tech are like this. I knew a guy, 3rd year of a degree in CS.

Said you can pay services to scrub your digital presence and they do this by "DDoSing the servers so much the hard drives get corrupted."

Just nodded my head

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

sounds like somebody DDoS his head so much his brain got corrupted. probably elite hackers.

is this the hacker known as 4chan?

[–] EatPotatoes@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

Of all the potential attack vectors RAM is one of the least likely because they use off the shelf controllers made by the same 2 or 3 companies, and if you add anything to it for spying its very easy to detect. Much easier to modify peripherals or use the backdoors the NSA mandates in all our CPUs anyways.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 30 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah I was going to say I've never heard of RAM being a vector for spyware?

[–] Inui@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I can't find the video or article, but I remember seeing something recently that it was technically possible but so complicated and costly to pull off that it makes 0 sense to even try.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Might've been this video from a few weeks ago? I think it was posted here somewhere.

[–] Imnecomrade@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I was about to post this. I have it timestamped right at the security researcher's response.

[–] HexReplyBot@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

China is so efficient they can make RAM that's cheaper, with tariffs included AND include free global satellite network connection hardware with it too? Damn they winning really hard

[–] stink@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This "israeli security researcher" who is well-respected on Linkedin for some reason, plugged a flashdrive into her laptop and started screaming about CCP malware infecting her macbook. After a bunch of people called her out because it was literally impossible with the device specs, she just deleted the post lol.

Fear sells, it doesn't have to be buried in reality. These idiots would think printer paper sourced from China would broadcast your location to the SEESEEPEE if you fold it into a paper airplane.

cheap vacation idea

one time i bought chinese underwears and they made me have dreams and intrusive thoughts about being gay with my dad.

i have been exclusively wearing american made underwears for 15 years and only now am i 90% free from communist gay sex mind dad controls.

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's wild. I also bought Chinese underwear and started having dreams about being gay with your dad.

[–] Bartsbigbugbag@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 month ago

That’s nothing. I bought their dad Chinese underwear and then we had gay sex.

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 26 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It'd be so sick if China could actually explode computers when they get criticized

[–] ComradeChairmanKGB@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 1 month ago

And remotely download more ram for us when we praise Xi

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Westoids accusing China of things that the west already does. It's projection all the way down.

Isn'trael detonates pagers, which means China must have even more sinister IEDs embedded in the west (with no evidence whatsoever)

American ruling elites were/are secretly paedophiles, ergo Chinese ruling elite must be even more discreet paedophiles with even more depraved sexual proclivities (again, no evidence whatsoever)

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

Thankfully I haven't seen this one stick around where I am. The deflection is so obvious even completely media illiterate libs can still recognise it.

Where do I get Chinese RAM imported?

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

how is your RAM gonna spy on you does this guy think it has a hidden network card inside of it?

[–] anotherspinelessdem@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

In theory it could have a microcontroller with firmware on it disguised as just a normal part of the chip that sends instructions whenever a wifi/ethernet device is detected, but I'm pretty sure any computer engineer that looks at it would say "hey what's this thing here and why is it eating up extra power?" and the jig would be up, and I'm pretty sure even the Germans could spare a computer engineer or two to look at their imports. And that's assuming no other link in the chain detects something fishy (like the OS).

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How would they make a computer explode using RAM? Are they manufacturing RAM with explosives?

[–] QinShiHuangsShlong@lemmy.ml 25 points 1 month ago

The Zionist special.

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

50% cheaper than current prices is still silly expensive.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

No doubt this mf will screech in nationalistic fervor about how the Patriot Act is the best thing ever and all Americans have the Patriotic Duty^TM^ to share their information with AMERICAN government and ESPECIALLY the private sector.

And then of course want everyone who ever criticizes the KKK or nazis to be publicly executed for wrongthink.

[–] save_vs_death@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

He'll be waiting for 3 years minimum, if only because the AI market will implode and they'll start making plebtech again once the dust settles. the only reason they're putting out ANY consumer grade memory or memory reliant hardware (like GPUs) is that they don't have enough machines to shove the silicon in to make AI-only garbage.

[–] moonguide@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago

Huh, do these ram sticks have a link somewhere? Maybe possibly gpu as well?

[–] happybaby@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

Computer explodes lol my man that's definitely Israel.

But fr Intel and Nvidia moving to Israel makes me feel like future computers will be booby trapped exactly like PC Chad says. Best to buy RAM and everything else from China, especially considering the progress of RISC-V processors.

[–] LeZero@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

Isn't pretty much every piece of tech in PC made in China anyway ? The semiconductors may be made in Taiwan, but I'd bet a lot of it is assembled in China

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)
[–] Des@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

and where to get

[–] darkcalling@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Lexar is a western brand and fairly old in computing industry terms. It's also western so I'm not sure if the RAM is counterfeit and not really Lexar or the person responding to them doesn't realize that's a big brand. They've been pushed aside by the more well known names but at one time their SD and similar camera memory cards were considered among the best brands to buy for quality.

[–] filipinokilla@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

wonder if chinese gpu manufacturers make anything compatible with western made motherboards and stuff, i don't know much about hardware but i'd love to buy chinese. i am currently in amerika though so the customs fees may be even higher. i just don't want to buy nvidia or amd shit

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

i drink chinese liquor and i'm a communist so this checks out

[–] happybaby@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
