Dating isn't about fitting in with the 95% of people that don't match your vibe. It's about finding the 5% that do.

Wear your weirdness proudly, it left fellow weirdos find you!

there's a reason for that. we filter out persistent smells.

you don't notice your own smell, even if you are incredibly stinky. if you are around a bad smell for a few minutes your brain will filter it out.

i've hit those pits of depression and been so stinky i could smell myself. my poor wife.

This artist just wanted to get their thoughts about boogers out in the public discourse, and the comic with a punchline was just an attempt to make it less weird. Change my mind.

It's a joke older than the internet, it's not the author's own thoughts about boogers, it's someone else's that they just used in a comic format.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

just because other people have had the thought doesn't mean it's not their thought too. just because crabs (or anteaters. or whatever) evolved from multiple directions doesn't mean they had to originate the same place.

Most comics being created today are simply recreations of old jokes or memes

[–] voodooattack@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Nothing new under the sun

[–] veni_vedi_veni@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

Back in my day, the memes fit the message. Nowadays, it's like they are rolling the dice which one they use for what is copy paste of their insta post. Like the abuse of the "Lisa on Stage" meme, it's so on point that it's obvious they aren't even trying to be funny.

[–] rudyharrelson@lemmy.radio 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's not particularly exclusive to comics. Jokes in general are infinitely re-hashable, which is fine as long as the comedian puts in the effort to make it their own and doesn't just steal the joke and try to pass it off as their own.

[–] morto@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago

And that's exactly what I don't see in most comics :(

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 day ago

It could have been a two panel comic.

Even a single panel.

Horse manure's not that bad. I don't even mind the word manure. It's newer, which is good, and a ma in front of it. Ma-Newer. When you consider the other choices, manure is actually pretty refreshing.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If you're from the country, the smell of manure puts you at ease and makes you feel nostalgic.

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

no, it still smells like shit

[–] moonshadow@slrpnk.net 2 points 11 hours ago

I bet if you're from hell brimstone is nostalgic and comforting too, it's about association man

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 10 points 1 day ago

This guy's a keeper.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 day ago

if you remove the booger and smell it, it immediatly smells like booger.

🤔

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

This doesn't necessarily have to be true. There are myriads of things we can't smell, simply because we do not have the appropriate chemical receptors to detect them. If there was no evolutionary reason for us to be able to smell our boogers, then it's entirely realistic to believe that we lost or never even gained that ability in the past.

[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Sometimes i do smell boogers in my nose and tbh it's not that bad, i can't describe it tho

[–] rudyharrelson@lemmy.radio 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Same here. I don't know why it happens, but sometimes I can distinctly smell the inside of my nose

[–] __Lost__@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 12 hours ago

Yeah, I came to say this too. It's weird.

[–] J92@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

So what you have to do is just keep storing up your snot til you've got something like a fist-full of it. Then spray it with warm water and have a whiff. Or maybe microwave it?

[–] HowAbt2day@futurology.today 1 points 1 day ago

It tastes like chicken but it doesn’t smell like one. I think.

[–] paultimate14@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ah. Another account a few hours old that just posts a handful of comics. Wonder if this one will delete itself later too?

[–] Anarki_@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 14 hours ago

It will, don't worry.

Have we figured out why they do this?
