Still don’t understand why a countries immigration enforcement branch is in another country for games.

If it was the FBeye you could maybe loosely sort of understand. But ICE?

Italy, just kick em out. They have no authority. At least citizens can legally punch them.

That is the response Toa few ice officers in Italy

I'm proud of humanity, proud of Europe, not you USA, proud of everyone

Too bad our cops are armed like a paramilitary force. You would probably see a lot mote activate protests if they weren't shooting people in the face and tear gassing entire city blocks. I absolutely get the need to be courageous and stand up against fascism, but we need to be practical about the pressures being used to keep people from standing up. The wealthy have spent decades putting larger and larger roadblocks between the American people and their government, to the point that the very real and massive protests so far have been almost entirely ineffectual. Calling for a general strike or pointing at another country and expecting it to just happen in the US is ignoring the reality and nuance of the situation and only services to make people feel even more powerless.

Yup pulling this shit in the US would:

  • get you killed
  • get you labelled a terrorist
  • get martial law enacted
  • cancel elections

Public support for ICE is at an all-time low, and even deep red districts are electing democrats in special elections. What we're doing now is working. I want to believe the noose is tightening on Trump & co.

MAGA only has a one vote lead in the House, and seats are flipping so fast, MAGA may lose their majority BEFORE the Midterms, which would really blow their election interference strategies. And be fucking hilarious.

The DNC should be recruiting Republican Reps to immediately retire, offering them big cash bonuses if they leave now. That's what MAGA would do.

Maybe talk to some big Democratic donors, and see if they'll hire some MAGA Congressman for a high paid cushy job where he can't do much damage. Then fire him when MAGA falls.

Not to mention that violent protests is exactly what Trump wants.

ICE has gone to Italy? what the fuck? why?

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 30 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

In a propaganda stunt designed to legitimize the paramilitary force loyal to them, the American Regime suggested they bring them to support the U.S. State Department's Diplomatic Security Service.

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

To remind Italy to return to their roots. 🙄

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They could have easily just banned ICE

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago

They should have turned them away at the Italian border. Go home, assholes.

[–] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 days ago

Now this is how you respond to fascist paramilitaries

[–] halfapage@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

oh hey Europe still got some balls cool

[–] zikzak025@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I mean they don't, or at least not any Europeans in power. Otherwise these protests wouldn't be needed.

The current party in power in Italy is the neo-fascist FDI, so from a political standpoint I imagine at least they are pretty cool with Israel and the US, which by extension reflects the Italian electorate.

Alerta, alerta, antifascista! 🚩🚩

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago

I wonder what would happen if one of the ice was afraid for their life so started shooting folks randomly.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Italy is okay with ICE being there??

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah you can see everyone holding hands in the video and singing.

🤔

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

I meant the entity that granted them permission to enter the country. Was that not obvious?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So Italian riot squads don’t have guns?

[–] Spawn7586@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Lol, only a crazy country would allow that
