Yup, these minimum wage earners are the REAL problem.

[–] Aljernon@lemmy.today 10 points 4 hours ago

My dudes, you have nothing to lose but your chains

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 1 points 2 hours ago

It's like to say they'll remember that at the ballot box, but they won't.

So long as there's a corresponding reduction in wages for Nebraska lawmakers ...

Nebraska, where the age of consent is lower than that the minimum rate of pay.

[–] collapse_already@lemmy.ml 4 points 7 hours ago

And yet they will probably try to lower both more.

"Fuck Dem kids"

-- RNC

pretty sure they have said that many times

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 28 points 11 hours ago

They're quite fond of kids in general. A bit too fond.

Yeah.... literally.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago

Quite literally.

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

Do we have time?

[–] Lexam@lemmy.world 59 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

That's a good way to get your young workforce to leave the state.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 40 points 10 hours ago

Or a good way to trap them so they can't afford to leave.

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 32 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

In Nebraska you're old enough to vote or die for your country at age 18 or 19, but don't you dare think you're worthy of earning the regular adult minimum wage.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 9 points 8 hours ago

the military do source thier Cannon fodder from poor red states, however they dumbed them down so much they cant even pass the asvab.

[–] fahfahfahfah@lemmy.billiam.net 13 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The fact that this wasn’t done in a “sensible” (using that term loosely) manner, say, limiting wage for people who are dependants, or even people under 18, shows that this is just a way to further kneecap the younger generations.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 4 hours ago

It's already so low, there is no reason to further limit the wage. It used to provide for a dignified life, 50 years ago, before they changed the cpi to understate it, while also not raising the minimum wage almost ever. Inflation adjusted is laughable, not that you all don't believe it, all they need is a consensus of ivy league suits to tell you your buying power has never been higher. Who are you going to believe, history, or them? Them obviously.

[–] favoredponcho@lemmy.zip 10 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Doesn’t this violate the equal protection clause?

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Because our laws are written by the elderly, ageism is legally defined as discrimination against old people.

[–] cokeslutgarbage@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

The law in my state defines ageism as discriminating against people over forty.

Fun fact! I complained at a job once because I was up for promotion and instead they hired a 22 year old with no experience vs my 11 years experience in the field and my boss accused me, a 35 year old, of ageism against this 22 year old person.

Funner fact! It wasn't actually ageism on my part but sexism on their part, because I happen to be a 35 year old woman and they chose to hire a 22 year old boy to be my boss. Then they asked me to train him. Then they fired me.

[–] cybernihongo@reddthat.com 2 points 2 hours ago

What a horrible workplace this was. I'm really sorry to hear about that. May all of these terrible workplaces go bankrupt!

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

Yikes. I'm sorry

[–] WesternInfidels@feddit.online 6 points 10 hours ago

Rolling back a new ballot initiative, even.

[–] Jerb322@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

And then telling anyone older "see how much more you are making than them?".

[–] fallaciousBasis@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Michael Thomas Stranc is a pedophile.

[–] obvs@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

Why would anyone hire someone who's not a child?

[–] Bahnd@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

Do you want to put your foot on the gas for brain drain? Because thats how you do it. Anyone smart enough to get accepted to an out-of-state school will never come back.

[–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

This is an "In capitalist America" joke, right?

[–] foodandart@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 hours ago

This is an "In a backwards state" joke.. and it's a sick one.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Nebraska lawmakers vote to take away the peoples votes. If a a majority doesn't matter, then their votes don't matter. Every Nebraskan would be supporting bowing and no say apparently ...

Honestly they should just "deport" every representative who defied their votes from the state and let the federal government say " you can't remove people for disagreeing with democracy"
