I don't even use a VPN. It still allows me to view subreddits and my own account, but this happens when I try to enter a comment section. Fuck reddit, I hardly ever post there these days, but damn it I do need access to the information in their comments sections pretty often for a variety of reasons.

What's more, it's only happening on Firefox. I downloaded and installed chrome and everything is normal on that browser.

Edit: Clearing cookies fixed it. Leave it to reddit to give you a page that's like "lol fuck you we banned you piss off" whenever their site has a bug and shits the bed

the problem is you're on Reddit dot com, comrade.

It's the only way to get real information from a google search

Find or host your own redlib instance use the Libredirect browser extension. Lets you browse with minimal privacy concerns.

"We want you to use our shitty app so we can assure our advertising isn't being blocked." Probably

Use startpage.com and click "view anonymously". You're welcome.

I use it for almost every website for anything I search. It does have trouble with cloudflare captchas though or maybe it is just me because I haven't been able to tick the box so far :(

This and redlib. I recommend bookmarking a couple of instances though because they can be down.

With a VPN, just pick an Australian exit node if you need to access that shithole website

  1. go to web.archive.org
  2. save the URL

happens to me all the time whenever i use mullvad vpn

[–] KobaCumTribute@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Is it still happening? It was happening to me too for most of the past half hour, but only when logged in and only when using a normal browser window rather than private. Now it's stopped doing it.

i also got this. youtube is also almost unusable now on firefox for me as well.

[–] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I just use FreeTube on desktop. I don't fuck with the website itself

[–] Grebgreb@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

that's also what i switched to but it wasn't working for most of yesterday and today.

[–] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 months ago

Just use a privacy respecting front end like Redlib. LibRedirect is a Firefox extension that will do this automatically for you, for Reddit, and a bunch of other sites.

[–] MaxOS@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago

seems to work in incognito mode

[–] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 2 months ago

The old. subdomain maybe better

[–] whatdoiputhere12@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

any new account I make keeps getting shadowbanned, even on a new device

I’d personally blame google since their search sucks so hard adding Reddit to the end gives me the answer

[–] LeninWalksTheEarth@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago

i had that too, had to clear cookies. i had trouble logging into another website for concert tickets too though.
