3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

We've done the latter since WWII, just not generally in allied countries.
Edit: ooof - just now seeing the "always has been" emoji. I'm owning it... whatever.
FWIW, I'm happy to have context added to the humor in case there are any who don't grasp it.
His threats for Greenland failed so now he is going directly for Canada. Again.
There's no oil in mexico.
So it's treason then?
Thats a treason
American oil corporations have been financing those separatist groups and their astroturfing campaigns in Alberta for a while now. I wish the Canadian government called it for what it is.
At least Eby was willing to say it directly.
Hate to say it but I agree with you. I just find Eby to be an asshole who never should have been accepted as the leader of the BC NDP. He treats his constituents like shit, then turns tail when he gets backlash.
But as the old saying goes a broken clock is right twice a day.
They could just emigrate to the US
But then other people would have it better than them. Right-wingers have to drag everyone down with them.
They don't want to give the people of Alberta the choice of being ruled by them.
I know hypocrisy is a big part of international relations. But can you imagine the aneurysm this administration would have if they found out that the Canadian government had been having covert discussions with fringe separatist groups in, say, Washington State? It would be tarrifs and tantrums up the wazoo. Hell, there would probably be troop build-ups along parts of the border and all sorts of crazy threats/actions.
But the other way around? Nah. It's all about the land-grab and American exceptionalism. "Rules for thee but not for me."
Us separatists up here in Washington are in favor of a state called Cascadia that includes BC in addition to Washington and Oregon (and maybe NorCal), so it’d be a little different.
Yeah we even have a flag picked out. That said BC's inclusion is more of a "we'd love to have them if they were interested" than a "we have the right to the whole of the pacific northwest"
BC is Canadian. You can't "include it" any more than you can take Alberta.
Feel free to split up the United States however you like, that's your business, but Canada's staying Canadian.
I don’t have anything good to say here, just that I personally have no intention of taking anything from anyone, and I support separatism only to the extent that it allows for better self-governance. Being extremely skeptical of Americans supporting separatist movements, especially right now, given that we have a long and storied history of annexing those “independent” groups immediately afterwards, makes a lot of sense.
Specifically Texas was obtained by inflaming a separatist movement then invading after it was cracked down on.
Viva Cascadia!
Trump officials in Canada should be considered hostile enemies and eliminated with prejudice.
Canadians who conspire with the US should be arrested for treason and sentenced to life in prison without parole, without external communication privileges.
Trump officials have met with traitors. Canadian traitors.
What else do you call people who would happily give up their own country to a neighbouring fascist dictator? Not even to appease him and save their people, but to actually support the orange shitstain?
Canada merely needs to look south to see what happens when you don’t punish seditionists.
Well this doesn't sound like any bit of good news.
He's trying to do what Putin is doing in Europe but they don't have the opsec.
He's trying to do what Putin has been doing to most of America. But to be honest, I'm not even sure that Putin has ever been solely to blame as much as wealthy oligarchs in Russia and the U.S. who created him and seem to be on the same team.
Hey Canada California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii would like to talk about an alliance of some kind
Hell offer a trade. I'd happily join canada.
Looking for a Canadian Donbas it seems
It's nothing new. Trump is just a bit less subtle about it.
the world is accelerating to destroying the middle and lower class at an absolutely absurd rate, incredible to reflect on where we were a year ago and now
And AB will be TINY cause they can give away land that’s not there’s. Ie. Indigenous land.
I previously linked to a map of Alberta that shows the land that isn’t indigenous.
It’s a really small and disconnected area.
Kind of like the number of Albertans who want to separate.
My recommendation: they should just move to Idaho or Montana and become Americans.
Where? Just looked through your comment history and can’t see the map.
Well that’s annoying; my history only seems to go back 6 months; I added it last July I think. I’ll see if I can find it again; it was an official governmental map.
[edit] This isn’t the one, as it’s missing certain types of land, but it gives a feel for the situation: https://open.alberta.ca/dataset/04074608-dabc-49c6-b25e-840a4b2844ee/resource/3c91195e-9b5e-4c69-aa9e-963d4bec520e/download/ir-first-nations-reserves-and-metis-settlements-map-2025-10.pdf
Note that there’s also federal land that doesn’t belong to Alberta.
So an independent Alberta would be really REALLY small?! If I read this map correctly.
Sorry to make assumptions, but if these right wing separatists are anything like American right wing separatists, would they not eventually just try to take it even if it wasn't officially given to them?
That's what I believe the U.S. separatists plan to do. Similar to the U.S.S.R., you'll probably see multiple states try to leave the union and form superstates. Once the larger superstates are formed they'll eventually join Trump's confederacy to invade, and attack their surrounding smaller states in order to force the remainder of the union to collapse.
Wouldn't be surprised if these Canadian separatists allied with them to eventually break up even more of Canada. In other words, it never stops with just one territory. The long term goal is to break apart countries piece by piece, and then invade to take over and reform all of North and South America.
There's this other fellow with similar goals in Europe. I'm not entirely sure, but I also suspect they (or more specifically the people who fund them) have been working together much longer than most people realize.
Seems like there's similar plans for the entire globe.

They are a tiny minority in AB. Most Albertans are very proud to be Canadian. That being said there is all of social media (US) and mainstream media (all US owned with few exceptions) which will amplify this. There’s only 5 million ppl in the entire province (there’s 6-8 million in the GTA as comparison). The main thing is they can’t take land with them that’s not theirs. It will start a war if these separatists get help from the US military to take Alberta. Also there is no independent Alberta, there is only Alberta as part of Canada or Alberta as part of the US. The US wouldn’t keep the name Alberta either cause it’s named after Queen Victoria’s husband.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but war is always the point. It's usually a tiny minority, but these movements are backed by a global campaign of disinformation and destabilization funded by oligarchs trying to gain control of natural resources and global power.
It's preventable, but you just have to be prepared for wolves in sheep's clothing who rely on the victim narrative and in-grouping.
Agree. We know.
This would seem to fall in line with current foreign policy. Should we be surprised?
Foreign interference. That’s being said if AB wants to become part of the US they can fuckkk right off - you won’t be missed.
They love having it broke off in em, eh?
