Rep. George Santos, facing likely expulsion from Congress, launched a expletive-ridden tirade in a livestream Friday night, accusing his House colleagues of casting votes hungover, cheating on their spouses, and being “hypocrites.”

The three-hour-long rant came after House Ethics Committee Chairman Michael Guest introduced a resolution to expel Santos that many of his former allies have promised to support.

Guest introduced the resolution following the committee’s monthslong investigation into the congressman, which found he used campaign funds to pay for Botox, personal travel, and even porn.

Santos singled out Guest in the livestream, saying the chairman should “be a man and stop being a pussy and call the damn motion.” But he had harsh words for all of his colleagues, on both sides of the aisle, whom he accused of “act[ing] like they’re in ivory towers with white pointy hats and they’re untouchable.”

“Within the ranks of United States Congress there’s felons galore, there’s people with all sorts of shystie backgrounds,” he said.

So spill the fucking beans! That's true scorched earth.

If he wants to take down other Republicans with him when he goes down in flames, I'll happily pop some popcorn and watch.

[-] S_204@lemm.ee 11 points 9 months ago

He's so toxic, and has been since he stepped into office I'm wondering what he might possibly know?

Who would confide in the confidence man?

[-] Joker@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 9 months ago

Yeah, everyone knew his deal before he was sworn in. Nobody is telling him anything. Maybe he heard some rumors. More likely, he’s just talking shit about what most of us assume is going on. That’s how con men operate. They tell lies that are easy to believe and that you want to believe.

[-] AutistoMephisto@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Exactly. I have no doubts that the truth is much worse than what Santos is claiming, but regardless we'll never know.

[-] ErrorF002@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

He doesn't know anything. The only thing that keeps him there are the razor thin margins in the house.

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 27 points 9 months ago

You know how annoying republicans get about drag shows?

It’s recently occurred to me as to why. The only drag queen they know is George Santos.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

Please, Devolder is a minor drag baroness at best. An unlanded one.

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

didn't say a good drag queen. Just the only one they knew personally, is all.

[-] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 months ago

That’s not why

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 0 points 9 months ago

Nothing, really.

Just a snarky comment playing off the idea of preconceptions about a larger group caused by only knowing one person in the group who does a weird thing.

Everyone knows the hatred is caused by bigotry.

[-] Lemminary@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Besides the ones they meet up with from Craigslist, probably 🤭

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 26 points 9 months ago

Huh. And this is the man who won three MacArthur Genius Grants too.

[-] logicbomb@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

You'd expect a person who won the Nobel Peace Prize to be slightly less hostile.

[-] DemBoSain@midwest.social 22 points 9 months ago

I've been trying to figure out where I've seen him before, and I just realized it's in the middle of the Funhouse Pinball table.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

That is my all-time favorite table.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Not so much, but I grew up in a town with a couple of really good arcades. Also, there is a pinball arcade in this town now with like 30-40 tables and you can play as much as you want for $10 on Friday and Saturday nights. A lot of them are new, which are less fun, but they have some good classics too.

I don't know what it was about Funhouse, but it just really appealed to me. I got very good at it. I almost always got a free game. I could play it for an hour before I got too tired and had to give it over to someone else.

[-] MycoBro@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

Me either. I’ve played a handful as a little kid with mom’s quarters. I had never heard it called a “table”. It’s cool and I like it. Figured you were in the know.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Oh, no, actually I used to work at one of the arcades when I was 19 or 20 (awful job) and that's what they called them.

[-] MycoBro@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

I’m calling them that now.

[-] Phattybluntz@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

And you'd be accurate too!

Table is definitely the common nomenclature when referring to different pinball machines.

Like if you said "I'm really digging this Medieval Madness table right now" anyone familiar enough with pinball machines would know exactly what you mean ;)

When it comes to calling the Republicans who have protected him out of weak self-interest for so long cowards, criminals and hypocrites, he's got a point..

[-] YeetPics@mander.xyz 19 points 9 months ago

Why is the first man to start a farm and homestead on Mars so upset?

[-] misterundercoat@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

Wait, I thought he invented Post-Its?

[-] MaxHardwood@lemmy.ca 6 points 9 months ago

Wasn't it the fast burning cigarette?

[-] YeetPics@mander.xyz 1 points 9 months ago

Actually it was both, and eerily enough he invented each at his desk while he was resting after building the Mars base completely solo (nobody else who was there wanted to work).

[-] tacosplease@lemmy.world 18 points 9 months ago

"Ivory towers with white pointy hats"?

Well. I do suspect a lot of the Republicans feel quite comfortable in white pointy hats.

[-] badbytes@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

Goodbye George. Don't let the door fuck you on the way out.

[-] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 5 points 9 months ago

Family values!

[-] ikidd@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

Maybe they can try persuading the 31 Dems that voted against his expulsion the last time.

[-] Hominine@lemmy.world 22 points 9 months ago

You mean the individuals waiting for the report referenced? I don't think they're going to need convincing nearly as much as you need to pay attention.
