"My method is I read an article about something, you know, and I get convinced that, oh, I gotta have this stuff,” he said. “And then I get it and then six months later I’m still taking it. I don’t remember what the article said. So, I end up with a big crate of vitamins that I’m taking, and I don’t even know why.”

Kennedy said Trump had the most "unhinged" diet of the administration officials.

Trump has access to some of the best medical care on the planet. He’s being kept alive at great expense in spite of his diet. Just look at the bruises on his hands.

Remember when he got Covid? That would have killed anyone else of the same age and comorbidities. Especially if they were relying American health insurance.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 64 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Remember when he got Covid?

I remember. It was really fucked up how he was downplaying its dangers while he got at that point still experimental, high-end treatment.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 51 points 3 days ago

He gasped for breath at least once while standing on a balcony telling others not to fear the virus. Total asshole.

[–] jorymo@lemmy.world 19 points 4 days ago

Maybe all the salt is preserving him

[–] homes@piefed.world 79 points 4 days ago (2 children)

This man’s opinion is worth nothing

[–] PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S@lemmy.sdf.org 33 points 4 days ago

Agreed, but also a broken clock is right twice a day 😆

Agreed. It's also probably just another part of the political kayfabe they use to maintain the support of their base.

Literally the roadkill guy is saying this.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yep, the "strapped the head of a whale he chainsawed off to the roof of his car to drive it home as a souvenir" guy.

I still cannot get over Kathleen Kennedy (his daughter) recounting her vivid memories of this from when she was six.

“Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet,” Kathleen Kennedy recalls. “We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us.”

Sounds like a very fucked environment for a child to grow up in.

What in the ever living fuck did I just read. Is that real?

[–] Soulg@ani.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Roadkill is commonly eaten in the really poor really rural areas. It's one of the least weird things he's done (well still weird because he's rich as fuck but still)

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

He also claimed to have brain worms in divorce filings suggesting he may have eaten a fair amount of undercooked food.

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 32 points 4 days ago (4 children)

He also explained that Trump eats from fast-food chains while he's on the road because he "trusts it" not to make him sick.

World class idiot.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 27 points 3 days ago (1 children)

There is a tiny shred of logic to it. Trump fears being poisoned, and if he eats food that is specifically prepared for him then that's a perfect opportunity for someone to target him. Whereas if he gets takeout from a random drive-through there's no way a poisoner would know ahead of time which hamberder to contaminate.

That tiny shred of logic is buried under a mountain of idiocy, of course.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 16 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Or he eats like a child whose parents spoiled him so badly, that they let him eat ANYTHING he wanted, because it was just easier to have the maid get him McDonalds than listen to his endless shrieking tantrums if he didn't get what he wanted. His childish dietary demands were always indulged, so he never learned to eat like an adult.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He might be right. His gut has been so conditioned to horrible food, if he ate a vegetable, it would probably constipate him for a week.

[–] s1ndr0m3@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

In reality it would be the opposite. The fiber in fruits and vegetables would give him the shits.

[–] alternategait@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I had nearly the same thing happen to me once. I spent 13 weeks eating nearly every meal from an institutional cafeteria. All veggies were canned, 90% of everything else was fried, probably a solid half of my diet was bread. When my friends got me from the airport, we went to dinner together and I had a very tasty quinoa salad. An hour later my guts were rumbling in a way I haven’t felt before or since. I spent that first night on or feet from the toilet.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 4 points 3 days ago

That sounds like mild food poisoning to me. Canned vegetables still have their fiber.

Woah could it be that health is more impacted by wealth than our diet?

No, it is the fat poor people who are wrong

[–] Ach@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

Yeah... laughs in paramedic.

Anyone who has ever worked as a first responser knows that it's an eternal, unshakable law of the cosmos that evil dirtbags who continually fill their bodiea with garbage are destined to live until the end of time. Pretty sure I know homeless crack addicts who were 80 when Mother Theresa was born and still outlived her, dumpster diet and mail stealing and all.

Great read, and she wasn't!

But they didn't say anything good about her other than she old

[–] RubberElectrons@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

It's for real something I've noticed.

Wasn't that dude at 106 eating only fatback and whiskey or something crazy?

[–] ggtdbz@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 3 days ago (2 children)

"My method is I read an article about something, you know, and I get convinced that, oh, I gotta have this stuff,” he said. “And then I get it and then six months later I’m still taking it. I don’t remember what the article said. So, I end up with a big crate of vitamins that I’m taking, and I don’t even know why.”

I feel like this is a lot of people’s experience, we all know someone like this. I know that’s not the kind of thing the Lemmy demographic would look very kindly at, but this is a type of person. Some of them are batshit and others just had a lot of bad luck with the field of medicine.

I really feel like if this guy had a kinder worldview and wasn’t genuinely fucking bonkers he would be a much-needed voice that could speak reason to people who have lost their trust in medical science. Instead he’s this. So he isn’t that.

That quote could have come from someone who has come to a good realization about their understanding of health. Okay, you got sold a crate of vitamins big boy. Are you fixed yet?

But I really feel like the only ones who talk nicely to those people are industrial suppliers of snake oil and that just makes the world worse. Especially now that they’re at the wheel.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Rfk is just playing the sheep as always here. This is the guy invested in supplements saying he takes them to juice sales. The guy fearmongering vaccines while vaccinating himself.

We should count ourselves lucky for his speech impediment, because this cynical prick could take supreme leader in the succession if it was not for his voice. He maybe could anyway but idk strong detraction they will need good strong hitlerspeeches. Vance will not get it.

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

i'm calling it now, (if) we have elections in 3 year...alex jones/tucker carlson ticket beats out uh...establishment probably tries to push hillary clinton on us again

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

My bet is Trump Jr. on name recognition alone. Half of MAGA won't even realize that he's another guy. The democrats will still only win by a small margin, if that. (Disclaimer: Not a US-citizen, so totally just speculation from across the pond.)

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I know you are half joking, but tucker will not get it because he is now against israel, calling out (accurately as far as I am aware,) some of their bullshit lies, epstein being their honeypot, and their factions being behind the kirk killing. Also strong against the Iran war, probably calling out the attempts to stoke the war back to life right now as we speak too.

Even if he did a 180 they would probably kirk him before letting him get it.

I am tempted to say jones is too much of an asshole, but that is what I initially thought about the president before the primaries in 2016.

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (4 children)

fair enough on tucker, jones though...

well...the bar always seems to get lower, for republican presidential candidates

not sure who else is lower than trump

I mention hillary because i have seen her campaign sending mail out already, I really fucking hope that shit is just trying to milk donors for national funding and not the establishment trying to push her on the country one more time.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 7 points 4 days ago

So, are the first vultures descending on the carcass now before he's even dead?

After watching president after president age like milk, I'm convinced that it's not the stress of office alone doing it. Even during normal times, it's an incredibly demanding position without a lot of room for downtime. Add an attending physician to the mix and you're good to go, packed to the gills with uppers, downers, antibiotics, blood thinners, beta-blockers, anti-parasitics, testosterone, you name it. While you're able to keep the schedule of a 30-year-old this way, you're also burning the candle at both ends and in the middle. It's little wonder that such a person can more or less shake off a bad diet at 80+.
