Whatever a more dignified life looks like, it must involve the concerted effort of people pooling their skills and hopes together. Occupation forces aren't going to let up because one person is powerful, on the contrary that will embolden them. How could transformation come about besides checking on your neighbors? The power of an exceptional mason?
