I'm wondering if there are parallels where commentators have so quickly and viciously mocked the victim of a crime like this. It feels somewhat new but I recall when George Floyd was murdered 5 years ago the boot lickers disgustingly tried to blame drugs or his health, and when Heather Heyer was murdered by a car attack in 2017 trolls pointed to her health.
Recine makes a good point here IMO - plus when Erika came out with those leather pants she looked too couch-like for JD to resist. It was I think Taylor Lorenz' video on Charlie Kirk where she makes the point that his whole job was to go out there and say the thing, whatever the thing is that has the most invective and is most inflammatory towards whatever minority they're trying to bully that day, and for having so publicly made that his identity people genuinely did not care when he met his end. She also says that it is natural that another chud grifter will always come next to stick their head up and replace him.

That is a fun fact!
