Lawmakers issue warning about homeland security budget after shooting death by federal agent of Renee Nicole Good

A day after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot and killed a 37-year-old US citizen in Minneapolis, Democrats on Capitol Hill are demanding restraints on the agency Donald Trump has empowered to carry out his mass deportation campaign – and some are threatening to use the next funding deadline to force those changes.

Democrats sharply condemned the Trump administration over the killing of Renee Nicole Good, demanding accountability after Trump, JD Vance, and Kristi Noem repeatedly claimed that the officer acted in “self-defense”.

Videos taken from multiple angles show Good behind the wheel, reversing her car and then attempting to drive away when an agent shoots her multiple times, remaining on his feet and walking away, apparently uninjured.

Axios reported on Thursday that Murphy was preparing to introduce a sweeping reform package that would require a warrant for arrests, ban agents from wearing masks during enforcement operations and limit border patrol agents from operating in cities far from the border.

.... You mean to say that they could have done that before, and didn't?

Democrats are fucking worthless as well

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Notice how it says threatened. Yeah. They are fucking worthless shits. All they do is talk.

[–] bestagon@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Yeah, for what? They’ve now decided they want this rotten organization to reform itself after the latest killing? If you can withhold funding, withhold funding

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 days ago

They are collaborators. These threats are lies, theater for the masses, just like everything the Dem leadership does. Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are not on your side. They only care about wealthy elites and the stock market.

[–] boaratio@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

They don't want to piss off their donors. Finger wagging is the best they can do.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago

Don't threaten, make like Nike and JUST DO IT

[–] Quexotic@infosec.pub 108 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Those chicken shits will just fold like last time.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 28 points 2 days ago (1 children)

As I remember, it only took ONE Bullet on J6 to stop the mob in its tracks.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

“Medic!”

[–] oh_@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

They won’t. I wish they would but they simply won’t. Schumer will write a stern letter.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 85 points 2 days ago

Suuure. Just like they “refused” to come back to work until ACA subsidies were reinstated.

[–] apftwb@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

Asked whether Democrats were prepared to use the appropriations process as a point of leverage, Schumer declined to say.

Shocker

OMG you guys maybe voting for the continuing resolution to allow record funding for a paramilitary organization while a dementia riddled, amoral lunatic is running the country was a mistake! Who would've guessed!?

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 7 points 2 days ago

“I did not foresee this.” - Democrats

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 42 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wow, threaten.

Axios reported on Thursday that Murphy was preparing to introduce a sweeping reform package that would require a warrant for arrests, ban agents from wearing masks during enforcement operations and limit border patrol agents from operating in cities far from the border.

So, requiring these guys to act like this is a free country where rights are honored? That's some radicalized leftist stuff right there. This is where I guess the corporate dickheads that constitute my "liberal media" would point and say, bOtHsIdEs.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 days ago

Meanwhile, this bill to recognize basic constitutional rights and legal norms will die in committee while being derided as radical Marxist leftist terrorist gender ideology.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 days ago

Another empty threat? Load it on the pile with all the others and the Nazis will get to it once they've fully taken over the country. Don't worry, I'm sure it won't be long.

[–] ebolapie@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

Oh, the fascists have really done it now. The Democrats are threatening to begin looking for that spine they misplaced. It's gotta be around here somewhere...

[–] Ixoid@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago

Not an anonymous 'agent' - the murderer's name is Jonathan David Ross.

Uh huh. You voted to fund it in the first place. This fight should have happened ages ago…not that they’ll stick to their guns, now.

Incompetent opposition.

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

And they'll keep the government shut down too!

That is until Netanyahu tells the 8 Dems to fold to Trump again.

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The Controlled Opposition Party will do no such thing. They will fold every time thanks to Schumer and his cabal of turncoat Democrats.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Schumer and his cabal of turncoat Democrats

That's not how you spell AIPAC

[–] mrmaplebar@fedia.io 17 points 2 days ago

You already caved on this shit...

[–] Donebrach@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

That’ll last about as long as new Republican demands are met

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

ok, so they could have done this before, and for some reason didn't

this doesn't look good on you, democrats

also, stop threatening, nut up or shut up

[–] admant@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

Blah blah blah

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

All I hear coming out of Cluck Cluck Chuck’s mouth is strangled… well. Clucking.

He gave up the fight.

The shit tsunami of responsibility isn’t aimed at him, but he still is getting splashed.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I'm sure a strongly worded letter is being drafted as we speak!

[–] AfricanExpansionist@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

Aren't they already required to show a warrant?

[–] qevlarr@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

That'll show them!
