I can think of at least one good thing that's... Well, I'll just let Charlie Kirk himself explain it:

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA i-cant

How about you all? Anything good to note? Can really be anything, either personal or in the news. Let's hear it!

The world installed more than 700 gigawatts of solar capacity in 2025.

[–] scala@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 hours ago

On the flip side. Utility companies charged more, even with these renewable energy sources.

Love your cat!

I kidnapped two strays, they are bonded and absolutely love each other. Its the closest I've ever seen animals be with each other. The short hair one is deaf, the long hair is polydactyl

MTG resigned

Gonna be looking real silly to celebrate this when she becomes empress.

[–] dead@hexbear.net 6 points 20 hours ago

I'm judging my good things list on excitement that I felt in the moment.

MTG resigned because Trump revoked his endorsements of her, probably because of Epstein stuff. I don't think MTG will make a come back unless there's a right wing anti-Trump movement. She basically has as much motion as the Never Trump Republicans of the 2015 era. I bet she becomes a podcaster.

I want to believe that she learned that Trump is pedophile through speaking with the Epstein victims.

This has been one of the hardest years of my life and yet somehow I've managed to get a lot of soul searching and self crit done.

[–] principalkohoutek@hexbear.net 33 points 1 day ago

Well I was going to ask "counting or not counting gang violence?" But you beat me to it

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 16 points 21 hours ago

A game store opened like 15 minutes away from where I live and I've started making some friends there.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 26 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Zohran Mamdani won.

I know I know, he’s a succdem and my guard is still up he’ll say “SIKE!” just like Obama, but maybe I’ll get pleasantly surprised and see a success story in a part of the country that doesn’t want people like me dead. That is the bar now. Don’t legalize discrimination against minorities and also baseline competence.

[–] ephemeral@hexbear.net 11 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

Cuomo eating shit was a good thing regardless of what anyone thinks of Zohran

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 15 points 22 hours ago

My take is that if nothing else, Mamdani's victory showed that there's a demand for left-wing politics and not everyone in the US has had their brains turned to goo by propaganda. We often act like the mayonese-burgerlandic brainpan is fundamentally incompatible with socialist ideas and it's just nice to see that a lot of people in the US do actually want the same things we want.

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 19 points 23 hours ago

It was worth it for the sole reason of forcing everybody from the shittiest Democrats to Donald Trump himself to endorse Cuomo. I feel like we didn't stop and enjoy just how fucking washed Trump was going up there asking people to vote for Cuomo. Fucking pathetic. pathetic

[–] MelaniaTrump@hexbear.net 16 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I got a tattoo that says

Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years? Counting or not counting gang violence?

With a little bang beside it. young-sheldon

There was a questionnaire on The Guardian asking readers what the best news of 2025 was. Really the only positive thing I could think of at that moment was Kirk, so I wrote them a nice paragraph about it, how it wasn't exactly "happy" news but it showed that fascism can and needs to be confronted and the popular response showed people are beginning to accept that. I doubt they will mention it in their recap of positive 2025 news but I hope a lot of people responded with that. Media like The Guardian are eternally civility-lib and there are many racists in the west but I really believe the average westerner actually wants nazis to be shot at this point.

Started to read theory & finally found the cause of my illness which I've been dealing with for the better part of a decade. Haven't really cured myself yet, but all in all 2025 may actually be the turning point in my life.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm getting closer to running an 8 minute mile. Not a very ambitious goal but it feels nice to do something outside.

China continues to knock it out of the park and help the global south out tremendously, so that's good. I too can't think of anything good from the west, lol, lmao.
