I'm gonna out myself here.
The existence and function of P2 (as well as Berlusconi, Italy's own Trump and Epstein combined into one) means I'm actually more skeptical about Freemasons than most people. Obviously not all Freemasons are P2 or P2-adjacent and I don't think there's a secret cabal of Freemason globalist elites that are undermining the whole thing but also... history shows that it's clearly not outside the realm of possibility that Freemason groups can form to attempt to subvert the government and shit. Not that I'm concerned for the welfare of the Bri*ish government but in countries where there's big Freemason numbers I wouldn't be surprised if most of the committed members went counterrevolutionary and attempted to P2 things if there was a socialist revolution.
Even in the absence of active use by reactionary intelligence agencies, Freemasons are an explicitly religious (albeit nondenominational) patriarchal organization of petite bourgeoisie and PMC types who do occult larping. Just by their class character alone they're primed to be reactionary militants.
Just because most of what they do in a capitalist state that serves their interests is be silly guys who hang out and drink it doesn't change that they're effectively already organized into counterrevolutionary cells to provide networking and organization to any counterrevolutionary movement.
but in italy's case it was kinda gladio's stay behind stay-behinds no? they just continued to run into the 90s, might as well take power no biggie, they are pre-approbed by being gladio adjacent cell
There's so little hard evidence on Gladio that I'm reluctant to make any claims on hard facts about it, aside from the obvious parts. When we finally get access to the CIA and Italian intelligence archives it's going to be an interesting time.
The thing for me is that they obviously did operate as a stay-behind network but to have a very committed and powerful network that functioned over such a time period (especially if you count Propaganda Massonica in this, which bumps it up to existing for over two centuries [!!]) it takes more than the US just throwing money and guns at you.
Idk I'm no historian when it comes to Freemasons. But P2 definitely gives me pause.
i had passing interest in them, but they mainly operated like gentleman (exclusively tee-hee) clubs all over europe and america in the 18-19th century, in america they would wax poetic about free markets, in russia - about liberalism, in france about how much of a dipshit louis was. It was basically national interest groups, without any overriding global priorities, with larp characteristics. so like, sure, they could get into power and start spreading in nepotism like fashion, but that's same as country club in usa today. some lodges were just as likely to go full larp about ancient egyptians and finance expeditions for mummies as they were to seek power.

Yeah it would have been almost impossible to find it by searching. If you ever do come across this situation and you don't get a reply, I always fall back on searching the key term alongside another key term that was mentioned nearby (e.g. "P2 + Berlusconi" or "P2 + Freemasons").
Not trying to tell you that you're being lazy here - I'm the one who chose to use the opaque abbreviation - but if you ever come across something that has a really generic term and it's being used in a specific way then this should help. And if you're not sure then just think of any key terms even if they are pretty general and you'll probably still find it - I even searched "P2 + Politics" just now and got Propaganda Due for the first hit.

a fraternal order whose loyalties often supercede the roles a person otherwise takes on in life. The paranoia doesn't have to be justified. They want people who have no loyalties but to the state. That's all this is. If you're in the wrong clubhouse and trying to climb certain ladders, the clubhouse in charge will probably freeze you out. If not entirely, then certainly beyond a certain point in the hierarchy.
I feel like this is precisely why if you're gonna have a fraternal order, it should actually be secret
