endorsedGreat news to see Republicans thinking about anyone besides Trump running for an illegal 3rd term.
And who do you think will be vice president for Vance to step down for?
They going to do a weekend at bernies presidency?
He'd still be elected in a way that could be contested, whereas the speaker of the house doesn't have to be a member of congress. So the method we expect is Vance/Some Asshole and then they both resign after swearing in, making Trump president again. Although this looks less and less likely as Republicans splinter.

The MAGAs are done with Trump, they don't want a 3rd term. He did his job and got MAGA into power, now it's time to toss the Useful Idiot aside, and get down to the job of real oppression.
The good news is that there are all sorts of right wing whack jobs who feel like America can't survive without them, and nobody else, in charge, so the MAGA primary is going to be an even bigger circus than usual, with all of them trying to out-extreme each other. I would not be surprised at all to see some candidates advocating for work camps for their political enemies.

The first big fight will be between the Trump kids and the group around Vance that want all that grift. And at some point, the fundies and the tech bros are going to go head-to-head. They've papered over the cracks now because both are OK with environmental destruction and unregulated propaganda, but there are too many deeper contradictions in what they want. And let's not forget the conservative split between Zionists and antisemites: who do they want to exterminate first, Jews or Palestinians?

As long as they can embezzle people's money, they are fine.
There is one reason why Vance is a good candidate: he's younger than 60 years old. We should totally normalize that.
Now, as for his politics, I'm gonna say that if Democrats would stop fucking up their candidate selection process then Vance shouldn't be a big problem. Also CIA could start doing its fucking job and stop Russian election interference. And perhaps start one in Russia.

He cannot run for VP, either. Same requirements.
Today I learned! Thanks. That actually made me feel better.
He could run for the House, win, be voted Speaker (assuming Republicans maintain majority), then both President and VP would need to resign/die. Even this method, Trump wouldn't be President for at least like 30 days. And Trump running for the House while currently President would surely give away the plan.
There is no requirement that the speaker of the house be a memeber of congress, it just always has been out of convention. It could be literally anyone

No, that's not quite how it works:

the Presidential Succession act states that anyone in the line of succession must also be eligible to be President, otherwise they are skipped. There have been non-native-born Cabinet secretaries who were not in the line of succession for that reason.

there is no 30 day waiting period, although the act states that anyone who has to become President due to this must resign their current position in government before becoming President

that person would gain the title of "Acting President". The act doesn't really explain what the difference is between "President" and "Acting President".

We are almost 3 years away from the election. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone, republican or democrat, say they endorse a candidate other than her.
I have a feeling something is going on here.
