Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I'm more concerned about the Trump Supreme Court, the Trump dept. of Justice, and the Trump military, but this is pretty bad too. It's nice to see the Democrats have found an issue worth fighting for.

"i still can't pay my rent next month, but thank god the Kennedy Center is not called Trump-Kennedy Center." - Democratic voter, probably

[–] criscodisco@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

This is nothing but a distraction/rage bait. The democrats are losing the plot, yet again.

The name is established in code by congress. The board doesn't have the power to change the name.

Hakeem Jeffries says renaming of Kennedy Center is illegal

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And that will stop him how again? Illegal or outside the scope of his powers as president mean less than zero to Trump and his cronies.

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 weeks ago

They can pretend the name has changed. In a Gulf of Mexico kinda way.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 9 points 2 weeks ago

Same for the department of defense.

Oh, I see. This is where they make their stand? This was too much for them? They're all worthless bastards.

You know, I'd almost hope he wastes time on building that stupid arch he's talking about, because I look forward to it getting demolished just like his shitastic casino.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 weeks ago

Great, thanks.

So how about we get enraged and vow to fight the blatant fascism going on in [gesturing about broadly].

Too much to ask?

[–] CobblerScholar@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago

Or you know you could do your jobs as law keepers and throw the fucking felon in prison instead of this preformative bullshit

[–] SGGeorwell@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Bullshit. They don’t fight for actual millions of their constituents. Why would they fight for a building name?

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago

Because the building name doesn't affect their billionaire megadonors.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

The other question you should ask yourself is why don’t Republicans fight for the millions of their constituents?

[–] xenomor@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

This is exactly the kind of symbolic trivia that establishment Democrats are going to fight for so that they can pretend to themselves and others that they hold beliefs and are accomplishing something all while having no principles and doing nothing substantive.

[–] WraithGear@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

oh look, something they vow to stop.

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

With a strongly worded letter of disapproval. I could give a fuck about the name change. I'm more concerned about the Dems being OK with being swindled about the health care vote, the potential war with Venezuela, and the SCOTUS ruling on the 14th amandment.

Compared to those, he could name it the Epstein center for all I care.

[–] ristoril_zip@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

who gives a shit what he names things. we will un name them in 2029 if we can get our shit together and send the Republican Party to hell where it belongs.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago

Just leave it. Let him rename freeways after his kids. Let him go as extreme as we can tolerate. We are learning to run and we have to trump a nice bruise so we learn to never trump again ever.
