We forced ourselves onto you after you repeatedly said no. Why are you so upset? Look how many jobs we replaced!

-Microsoft CEO right before the guillotine's blade falls

Edit: This cross-post about AI potentially replacing almost 12% of jobs off the bat seems relevant.

Of course people are unimpressed by failures. What did he expect?

Honestly I think LLMs are impressive pieces of kit. However, they have huge flaws which means they are only really applicable to a very very small subset of applications and need both ai expert and subject matter expert supervision.

If I were to run a devastating anti-LLM campaign, I’d go around telling people they are perfect (which they clearly are not), and shove them into all applications imaginable (to drive the point home that they suck) and wait for the revolution.

So, welcome to the resistance, Mr Suleyman.

Just about every site now has some barely functional chatbot that hijacks the screen and demands your attention. I want to read the content on the site, not interact with a poorly programmed simulacrum that can give me inaccurate and nonsensical info.

AI is the biggest scam of the century.

[–] Newbrain@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Co Pilot ommitted whole lines from a summary I asked for, then argued that they werem't left out. I guess gaslighting is built in from the top.

[–] Newbrain@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

*edit weren't

[–] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 hours ago

Man, this should have not be in the headline.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 6 points 10 hours ago

How are we supposed to take someone seriously when they're wearing a Wesley Crusher Season 1 sweater?

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 30 points 20 hours ago

Smug fucking asshole.

That game sucked.

[–] OldQWERTYbastard@lemmy.world 43 points 21 hours ago

Oh man. I forgot what happens when you try to sell out an incredibly loyal fan base built over decades.

Poor Blizzard. They were more fun in the '90s.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

[–] baronvonj@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago

More non-tech people need to watch Silicon Valley and understand how close to reality it is.

I hope every one of these brain dead CEOs catches some sort of STD that turns their dick into hamburger meat.

Fuck them for creating this dystopian hell we live in.

Don't hate the players, hate the game.

[–] bitMasque@lemmy.world 9 points 9 hours ago

Nah.

Both? Both. Both is good.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 14 points 21 hours ago

I wish I could up-vote this twice

I swear every current problem from dumb shit head decisions has got to be because all of these things are being run by dumb shit head nepo babies now. They get this shit handed to them and they’re too fucking stupid to do anything right or they just legitimately don’t care and are just trying to make themselves as much money as they can get away with before everything collapses below them.

Either that or tech bros really are just all this fucking dumb.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 8 points 18 hours ago

they just legitimately don’t care and are just trying to make themselves as much money as they can get away with before everything collapses below them.

This one. In addition to their greed, publically-traded corporations are stautorily required to maximize profits for the shareholder. So, if there's a thing that will replace workers for less than it costs to have workers, they will do that thing.

"Guy whose day is filled with ass-kissers who say AI is useful is confused when presented with something contrary"

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 13 points 22 hours ago

He's given the world an ass kissing robot and is surprised the world doesn't want to reproduce his relationship to the others.

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 8 points 16 hours ago

This sounds like a dysfunctional relationship, doesn't it?

[–] MutantTailThing@lemmy.world 44 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

AI CEO has to be one of the dumbest sounding bullshit job titles Ive heard in a good long while.

[–] Eyekaytee@aussie.zone 12 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

head of the artificial intelligence and machine learning research lab at microsoft sound better?

[–] MutantTailThing@lemmy.world 25 points 22 hours ago

As a matter of fact, it does.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 27 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Here's my explanation: how you treat ChatGPT today, is how people at the top end of silicone valley have ALWAYS treated their assistants, and anyone "below" them.

They're surprised that you don't enjoy having the simulation of someone you can hurl abuse at, make demands of, and call an idiot - who has to stick around and take it. The perfect underling.

They're reproducing their own lack of empathy, and surprised that YOU don't want to be like them.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 11 points 17 hours ago

Tbf, the AI tools also don't work right, which might have some small bearing on whether people choose to use them or not:-)

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 11 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

... It rather that it barely functions, yet is being forced on people everywhere, anyway.

Don't think most people are looking into it that deeply.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

Don't think most people are looking into it that deeply.

Isn't that literally what they're saying?

No one is thinking deeply about why there is a mismatch.

Every ai pusher thinks that not only will their products sell its self but that they are providing something so revolutionary we should be thanking them for it.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 9 points 19 hours ago

I was more impressed with that skeleton hand coming out of a box to grab my coin. Different times.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 11 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Where's the microsoft dick sucking CEO?

[–] Darkcoffee@sh.itjust.works 5 points 20 hours ago

And are they hiring?

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 7 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder how much HE uses this wonderful AI...

[–] TheOneCurly@feddit.online 13 points 19 hours ago

Probably all day. His job isn't that hard and he clearly has the personality type for ai psychosis. I'm sure he's having long nonsensical conversations about his grand ideas while the chatbot eggs him on.

[–] ParadoxSeahorse@lemmy.world 6 points 21 hours ago

He should accessorise that jumper with a combadge
