"I think you should let him hang himself," Wolff wrote. "If he says he hasn't been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you a valuable PR and political currency. You can hang him in a way that potentially generates a positive benefit for you, or, if it really looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt."

First of all, ironic.

Second, why the fuck was Michael Wolff advising Jeffrey Epstein on PR?

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 month ago

I think you should let him hang himself

Lol I missed that the first time

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago

I think he was just stirring the pot, knowing it will lead to a better story later. It's not journalistically ethical either way.

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have released three new emails from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein that mention President Trump, raising new questions about the extent of their relationship.

If they can release these, they can RELEASE EVERYTHING. Stop fucking around, is all I'm saying.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

How do you know they can release everything....? I'm assuming you mean the Democrats, when you say "they".

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Because they have in their possession as evidenced by the fact that they've released unreleased emails. There's also that whole stretch between 2019 when Epstein was arrested to January '25 when Trump took office that they were in control of the FBI and DOJ but chose not to release any of this material for some inexplicable reason.

[–] SupahRevs@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

They got Maxwell in 2022. So they were gettin convictions. The real bad DOJ is the one in Florida under Acosta. They could've actually saved girls if Acosta didn't back off on Epstein in 2008.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 62 points 1 month ago (5 children)

The fact that this administration is going to the ends of the earth to bury this coupled with them moving an actual pedophile, in actual prison, to a lower security prison and giving her a bunch of perks after she agreed to state she never saw Trump fuck a child is enough for me to believe that we currently have a sitting president who raped children.

The President of The United States of America raped children.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 10 points 1 month ago

If you have a person living in your house who is obviously molesting children, and you choose to defend and support them, then you are a pedophile, too.

Bottom line: Anyone who still defends and supports Trump is a pedophile.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Proof that conservacunts are only against pedophiles if they're Democrats.

--the orange man

From the standpoint of water, it is wet. At least that’s what Trump says.

Epstein's final words

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 37 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Another email Epstein sent in 2011 to Ghislane Maxwell, his associate who was also convicted on trafficking charges, called Trump the "dog that hasn't barked" and says Trump spent "hours at my house" with one of the alleged sex trafficking victims.

Discussing philosophy, one assumes.

[–] d00phy@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Discussing a shared love of doodling and cryptic birthday cards.

[–] Tire@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 month ago (5 children)

What’s that phrase mean? “dog that hasn’t barked”

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I noted that too. I don’t think it means ratted them out; my guess is it means he didn’t give them the intel/money/people/thing they wanted from him yet.

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

That's the way I've heard it used. This person knows/is complicit/is involved in a thing but they ain't said shit yet. It would be the opposite of the old cliche phrase about a stool pigeon singing.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

It's from an Arthur Conan Doyle story; Sherlock solved the case of the horse stolen at night by noting that the dog didn't bark, ergo, the dog was a direct familiar of the person who stole the horse, because it would have barked at a stranger. It's a statement about guilt, and how silence is itself a powerful accusation in the right context, like when you'd expect a dog to bark (or a noise to be made in a way it usually is) but strangely nothing happens, all remains silent.

The way the phrase is used in the email is a bit off because the guilty party is neither a barking or non-barking dog, but look at the date of the email: April, 2011, after Epstein's first conviction and around the time that victims started filing serious lawsuits, especially Virginia Giuffre, and going after the powerful men who not only abused them but then defamed them.

At the time this was written, the previously reliable walls of wealth, connection, and privilege were already unraveling, Epstein was getting sued, the media kept poking around, his own moneyed friends were already starting to distance themselves . . . so in this email Epstein is essentially pointing to the unspoken guilt surrounding the ONE person in the middle of all his troubles for whom the dog hasn't barked.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 month ago

It meant he's kept his mouth shut. He relished his secret relationship with Epstein, as evidenced by his contribution to Epstein's Birthday Book.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Hey didn't say shit about it....I think?

Interesting how that "dog that hasn't barked" reinforces the "Secret Enigma" message in Epstein's Birthday Book.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 29 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Starting to look like trump might have been their #1 human trafficking customer.

Unfortunately, we're eventually going to find out that there were many more enthusiastic PedoCons, and probably even some PedoLibs, too.

I get there are new things against Trump.
Well, there's no need.
There are plenty, and new everyday, straight from the source.
But the US citizen and politics are allowing Trump to do what he's doing, so no new scandals will do the work, people should.
If they don't - so sad to write - the majority somehow agrees.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

You're right, I should just run up on the White House and get murdered 10 times before I even see the motherfucker. Surely "doing the right thing" will be some solace to my child.

[–] vodkasolution@feddit.it 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What people should do is voting and promoting a different culture, asking their representatives not to remain silent and so on.. You know, democratic stuff

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

You think we haven't tried that?
