Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Using "undercover" as if he's concealing his employer in order to take on the mob rather than attendants at a carwash.

Anyone pissed that for once the cop doesn’t shoot first?

[–] sun_is_ra@sh.itjust.works 65 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Maybe the I.C.E agent was white. hard to tell from the photo

[–] Zoe@lemmynsfw.com 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I seriously doubt they even hire people who aren't white

[–] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 months ago

They do. For now.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 64 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Local police need to start arresting ice

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 10 points 5 months ago

Unlikely to happen, because it means they'd be vulnerable to accountability too.

[–] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

I have a feeling they're in bed together.

And those uneducated highschool dropout bloodthirsty ICE agents seem to have been granted complete lawless freedom to run amok fucking up everyone everywhere they go.

I can think of at least 5 road rage incidents within a few miles of my house over the last decade, in which people were murdered by a road rager with a gun. Some of them have never been caught, and never will be.

If I'm a cop, and I see a guy exit his vehicle and point his gun at the driver in the car behind him, I'm going to shoot that guy immediately.

Even if I'm not a cop, my state has very strong Stand Your Ground Laws, and if a citizen were to kill a road rager who was pointing a gun at another driver, they'd certainly get away with it.

The dead guy being an ICE agent might complicate it a bit, but it shouldn't.

Yea but the guy pointing the gun was white. If it was an unarmed black or brown guy. He would have been shot before he got out of the car.

Fascists think they're immune to being humiliated, beaten down or suffering. He's going to learn the hard way that he's only human.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 26 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Oh? Nothing's happened to them so far...

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)
[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

How much farther? They've gone about as far as they can go without implementing gas chambers and still people are fretting over anything violent happening to them.

[–] GaryGhost@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Well I listen to my governor pritzker and I can't help anyone if I'm in prison. He doesn't want any violent reaction to ice because it would be used as an excuse to bring in military force. It can go farther.

[–] Draegur@lemmy.zip 33 points 5 months ago

For fucks sake, actual brownshirts...

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 26 points 5 months ago (1 children)

And she'd have been well within her rights to shoot him first.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Or run his ass over.

[–] sem@lemmy.ml 20 points 5 months ago

If the ICE agent would be not white, I'm sure cop would just shot him without questions.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 12 points 5 months ago

The guy should have been arrested anyway. Even the supposed infraction, “she was following me!”, is not something you should be pulling a gun for

[–] ajoebyanyothername@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago

As opposed to the 'official uniform' all the others are wearing?

[–] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 5 months ago

Oh my god, I'm over here incredibly blue-balled for blue-on-(sort of)blue violence.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

surprised it took so long for something like this to happen.

[–] Quexotic@infosec.pub 7 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

I would be really shocked if it hasn't already happened and we just haven't heard about it yet.

[–] moobythegoldensock@infosec.pub 2 points 5 months ago

Since ICE agents refuse to identify themselves and often operate while wearing masks, there has been a growing number of incidents in which residents and local police cannot tell if the individual they're dealing with is a federal agent or an opportunistic criminal.

“Yes.”

[–] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

They posted the wrong video.
