Sounds like satire to get views for his website.

[–] ook@discuss.tchncs.de 72 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You really cannot be 100% sure with some of these. Ken Cheng is obvious. This one, not sure. Sounds like.

24 y/o, 3 majors in CS, economics and another thing. Founder. The fact that it's a 30h flight. It has fuckery all around.

[–] iamericandre@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Unless he has flying to Kansas or something the flight length is complete bullshit. Looks like its 17-19 hours for west coast airports and at most 22 hours for nyc or Boston

[–] teft@piefed.social 16 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

If he had multiple layovers he could hit 30 hours flight time. However you’re right, a nonstop flight from NYC to Saigon is only like 20 hours or so.

I found this guy's profile and am sad to report I don't think this is satire

[–] Eq0@literature.cafe 44 points 1 month ago (1 children)

As satire its hilarious! That’s why i don’t check author sources.

I had no doubt, having met many visionary "founder" types.

Too many comments here taking it seriously...

[–] absGeekNZ@lemmy.nz 7 points 4 weeks ago

Hey, this is linkedin, the satire/reality slider gets really fuzzy in the middle.

Looks like someone just got their first box of Adderall lol. It's a long and majestic flight, but the landing is gonna be a rough one

Anyone that would willingly buy into this shit has a severe lack of critical thinking skills.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 22 points 4 weeks ago

That's another legacy feature I had deprecated.

Sleep deprivation leads to hallucinations like this.

I see a too early death in his 30s. it's called karoshi - death caused by overworking.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 20 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I think we need a specific term for assholes that proudly work others to the death while taking all credit. CEO just doesn't cut it

LOL. Bro thinks 'If I work hard, I will succeed; effort and progress scale linearly'

I used to work 300 hr months for years. Let me be the first to tell you that's the most toxic thinking you can imagine

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 14 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I used to work 300 hr months for years.

I had one of those, and then decided that if being self-employed was this, I'd rather live under a bridge.

[–] Th3D3k0y@lemmy.world 11 points 4 weeks ago (4 children)

I will never understand purely career oriented personalities. I work so I can enjoy not working, I want to find the most efficient work to not-work ratio and be there.

I have multiple friends that will have a one-ups competition to talk about all the overtime they worked, and I would just chime in with "If I did 14 hours of actual work this week I would be surprised"

I want to barf on this dude's face. This dude thinks he is going to be next Fuckerberg or whatever CEO is in vogue now. Only thing he is going to be a burnt out failed entrepreneur.

[–] spez@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 month ago

Follow me for more useless corny shit

But his idol, Jensen Huang, apparently also goes to bed an wakes up, implying the occurrence of sleep. Logic is difficult

You can tell he doesn't have kids.
Else he'd be willing to pay a lot of money for 30 hours of uninterrupted relaxing time.

bro is an econ major and yet never read Capital vol.1 which quite clearly lays out that any time spent working after reproducing the means of sustenance for the worker (in this case I guess it's only an hour or two, if the dude is doing anything productive at all) is just surplus value for the capitalist (in this case, the venture capitalist paying this "tech founder"), which the capitalist will never reimburse to the worker.

Fuck Linkedin and the brown-noser assclowns that post this shit.

Glad I deleted my account there.

30 hours of uninterrupted time available for sleeping. That sounds like an excellent return.

[–] verdi@feddit.org 12 points 4 weeks ago

This is what happens when you're sleep deprived, you mean to write 13 and write 30. Also known as "flying coach" time dilation slip.

Bonus points for the creepy privacy invasion.

10/10 post

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 12 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

24yo, major in computer sciences, economics and one more thing. Probably in false advertising.

[–] Th3D3k0y@lemmy.world 7 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

A 30h flight, to where? How’s he getting 30 out of 17

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 weeks ago (4 children)

Some people do have unlimited energy. Was watching a car show where this dude fabs up amazing shit on his own, and he only sleeps 3 hours a day, says thats all he needs amd he just wakes up and goes to play in his garage.

Some people just lucky. Then there's me, not old or out of shape, can sleep 13 hours easy and not have any energy, thyroid tested fine, im literally just a low energy person most of the time. Sucks.

Satire becomes the new way to roll a business. We've reached a point where this kind of post with its obviously satirical framing could as well come from an actual founder dude who just craves for maximum attention with nothing to show for it and just trying to go from there. At this point it doesn't matter anymore if it's satirical or not as long as it gets the clicks. Clicks turn into dollars at some point.

Not to blame lil' Ky-Nam here, although looking at the short summary (3x Majors CS, Econ) this sounds like either the entire profile is satire or he is unseriously serious about this kind of hype business approach to just get attention and then go from there. But maybe it's just a dude.

What a time, we can't even discriminate the authentic crap from toxic crap anymore.
