Even though the country wasn’t so bad after Dabya, imo it’s honestly where it all went wrong in the modern era. And it all started with a corrupt person who should have stayed in the private sector.

It all came down to: there isn’t a law forbidding it so there is opportunity

The country wasn't so bad... Just several unnecessary wars, war crimes, the PATRIOT act, the housing market crash, to name a few?

You forgot the already failed War on Drugs being targeted towards US inner cities with the enthusiastic help of the Democrats. Deregulation of several base industries to maximize profits. The curtailing of union power supported by both major parties.

Oh I haven't forgot

Yeah, but the fascists still had decorum back then, and that's what matters.

It started going wrong with Nixon. The same people who worked for Nixon worked for W, gave us Fox News, and Trump.

Yeah I agree, that’s why I said modern era. Nixon is before many people’s time

Get my cane, we're gonna give 'em what for!

To be clear, the "modern era" is generally used to refer to events from the 19th century until today. Ergo, your two sentences are irrelevant to each other. 🙇🏽‍♂️

I really didn't recognize Christian Bale there, it got me searching for a while.

“And Tyler Perry as Colin Powell” 😆

I had to do a triple take when I watched it.

Halleluyer!

And it all started with a corrupt person who should have stayed in the private sector.

You're talking about the corrupt actor who ruined the careers of his coworkers by getting them blacklisted with HUAC and should never have been involved in politics, right?

While I agree that Reagan has done the most harm, he actually believed in something more than himself.

Dick on the other hand was fully self aware and wanted to be as selfish as possible, that’s the pattern currently in politics.

What strange friggin cast for these people... like Sam Rockwell as George Bush lol, thats crazy, i wanna see it just to see how he does portraying him.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago

As always, Rockwell slays it. 🤘🏼

Goddammit, Jesus! Wrong wheel!

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Nah. Fuck anything that humanizes that ghoul.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 7 points 2 months ago

It doesn't. Iirc when there's the 9-11 attack on the news, everyone is sad or freaking out; he's excited because of the personal opportunities this will bring. (And this is narrated)

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

It doesn’t, in fact Christian bale said his inspiration for the role was the actual devil.

It humanizes Dabya a little but that might just be my love for Sam Rockwell.
