I support actions by the next administration, even though they will likely be expensive, to clean up and reset all of this ridiculous nonsense that we’re seeing now.

the next administration

Love your optimism!

[–] genuineparts@infosec.pub 24 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Well Germany has democracy again. They did not say when this next administration would be.

[–] Alaik@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 months ago

Nazi Germany did not have our nuclear arsenal.

[–] PodPerson@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 months ago

Gotta stay positive...

The only way I accept this is if the cost a long with total cost of its construction is taken from the military budget.

[–] elvith@feddit.org 6 points 3 months ago

The monkey paw curls. The military gets defunded to pay for the reconstruction of the White House. ICE budget and spending is still through the roof.

[–] Alaik@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 months ago

Tax everyone at the front row of his inauguration for it. If not paid in 7 days, freeze assets totalling double.

Leave it and turn it into a soup kitchen.

He needs to be erased from history, like the Pharaohs used to do to their predessessors, chipping their names off monuments and such.

Besides you know that ballroom is going to be a hideous monstrosity. Tear it down, and charge him for it.

Assuming it's finished before he dies.

An Gop prez won't touch it, and if an Democrat thinks about it, all hell will break lose, how irresponsible they are with the tax payers money, and don't we have bigger problems...hate crime.. hate crime.. yada yada

I'm thinking that even if they want to knock the building down, they could at least part it out. Look at those windows in the wreckage pile! I'm sure there are dozens of small museums around the country who would love to have an authentic White House window to show bored fourth graders on field trips.

Or, gild them and hand them out as party favours to your donors, as would more befit the architect.

there are parts of the Berlin wall installed all over Germany for the sake of remembering how it was teared down

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 3 months ago

When the Wall was torn down, Leonard Bernstein conducted and recorded a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony as a dedication to the reunification of Germany.

When it was released, the record company sent a small tchotchtkie to the classical music buyers at all the record stores/chains - a wooden stand with a piece of the Berlin Wall glued to it. I've seen a lot of little gifts for buyers to entice them into ordering an album, but I've never seen buyers more excited than they were for this one.

The point of the ballroom is to remind us whoever lives there is the first estate.

And the rest of us (over 98% now) are the third estate and don't get a say in political affairs, even as we starve and die to plagues.

That's when the story starts getting familiar. 🪟🔪🫅⚜️

Next Democrat president (if there is one) withholds aid to red states and uses the money to rebuild the East Wing and Rose Garden exactly as they were before the rapist got his rape hands on them.

It's blue state money anyways.

just ask Canadians to come take it down for you

not sure how many will actually set foot over the border though

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Back during the peak of the 51st state shit and all that there were US citizens saying “damn I guess you gotta come put us out of our misery, huh?” and it’s like no, ya’ll need to clean up your own messes. Canadians won’t come fix their shit because it’s not our problem and they’ll never learn if we have to keep propping them up and keeping them safe from consequences.

This looks like a metaphor of our times.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 months ago

[–] Aeri@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (2 children)

There was a time where I worked for a park that had a rose garden and honestly f***** Rose Garden they are an immense amount of work just for "uwu pretty flower"

[–] IMALlama@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

I think that's part of the point - they're a statue symbol because they're difficult to maintain on your own without hired help.

[–] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Prolly depends on climate, I do fuck all for mine, they blossom beautifully and are like 2.5 metres high at this point. One year I cut off the fruits (idk the English word for them) in the winter and got even more blossoms for very little work.

[–] Evil_Incarnate@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Fruits are "Rosehip" in English. And can be used in cooking.

[–] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

I usually just dry them to have as herbal tea!
