Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also xcancle.org (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

One [member of Congress] is even vowing to carry firearms.

Yeah, a sidearm would have saved Charlie. 🙄

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 39 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Charlie should’ve shot himself in the neck again to plug the hole

[–] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 82 points 1 month ago (4 children)

oh please... why would they be more afraid now than when those senators got shot?

[–] Red_October@hexbear.net 67 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Leftist politicians (and sometimes liberals like those senators) get taken out all the time. They fear this for the same reasons as Luigi. Potentially leftist political violence reverses the target from the exploited to the exploiter.

porky-scared-flipped You're supposed to let us kill the poors unopposed! You can't turn the violence back against us!

[–] Red_October@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago

The best line from “Kill the Poor” by Dead Kennedys is, “Convince the liberals it’s ok!”

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Because they’re online like everyone else so somehow, parasocially, they think this is somehow closer to home.

Also I think a lot of the time they know that most of the violence is directed at the left so they chalk up the other incidents as “friendly fire.” Oops, while Q pilling American meemaws we accidentally caused some low-tier right winger to get shot. I always think of that time some mob guy got greased by some middle aged loser who thought he was part of pizza gate. Something like that.

This time I think they might be scared it’s their own base gunning for them, maybe over Epstein, or it actually factually is terrorism from the left which despite their crying of wolf they have never actually faced. I think they’re a bit shocked at the implications and they’re trying their old playbook but their palpable unease says they think something is on the wind.

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago

Yeah, Luigi (who, I might add, is innocent.) was close enough to actual left wing terror that they pissed themselves when he proved popular. Any sort of regular stochastic or organised violence from the left would be devastating for them. They won't be able to contain it like they did the Weathermen, they don't have the state capacity anymore for COINTELPRO tactics.

State representatives aren't important to them

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 22 points 1 month ago

Or house reps, or dem senators

[–] LangleyDominos@hexbear.net 30 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That reminds me of the guy who went into the Senate baseball game blasting. That resulted in a great Trillbillies ep.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 63 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

An October 7th of the class war this is not. But they are deathly afraid that one will come.

[–] Pentacat@hexbear.net 33 points 1 month ago (1 children)

In this scenario, who are the thousand people mowed down by Israeli helicopters?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 36 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Unarmed civilian proles. Unless you're implying that it would be their own people? Then in that case it would be more like the US military mowing down finance people indiscriminately in Wall Street during an uprising that targets Wall Street. Or something equivalent idk.

Didn't an actual congressperson and senator get shot very recently?

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 48 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Nancy Pelosi's house was also broken into by some chud looking to murder her. Since she wasn't home, he settled on taking a hammer to her husband's skull and nearly killed him.

Pelosi came out with some "reach across the aisle" bullshit in response while Trump was all "Damn, too bad it wasn't her instead of her husband."

[–] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago

what a wimp. has anyone seen her spine?

[–] viva_la_juche@hexbear.net 49 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

They’re just yapping. I will be completely unsurprised if/when we memory hole this bs in a week like we basically have done with every thing else

[–] darkcalling@hexbear.net 55 points 1 month ago

Meanwhile I had a very happy day the other day. I felt really uplifted and strangely good and I still have this afterglow. Maybe try not being horrible people with power that use it only for ill thus gaining enemies and living a life that will leave no one but your family and donors missing you. Idk.

List of reasons they should be afraid

-July 13, 2024 Failed assassination attempt on trump

-December 4, 2024 Successful assassination of health insurance ceo

-May 21, 2025 Two embassy of israel staff members shot and killed

-July 28,2025 Landlord ceo shot and killed

-September 10, 2025 Successful assassination of charlie kirk by a shooter who hasn't been caught yet

[–] MolotovHalfEmpty@hexbear.net 40 points 1 month ago

Averaging more than one every six months. That's quite impressive really, even if the quality arguably hasn't always been there. Assassinations still doing better than Marvel movies though on the quantity-quality scale.

Maybe they should stop facilitating a genocide until they figure this out? Like that could even cross their minds.

Inb4 Drinky Pete establishes the Praetorian Guard for Republican congresspeople.

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 38 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

He’d insist on calling them that, too.

Newsflash, Pete, you’d hate Ancient Rome. Distillation of alcohol hadn’t been invented yet. Muslims did that. So have fun trying to get to that fifth-of-vodka-blackout pounding red wine by the gallon.

Romans did know strong alcohols, just the production took much more effort.

We may hate them but are they not entitled to human rights?

Absolutely not, human rights are for humans, not politicians

[–] communism@lemmy.ml 30 points 1 month ago

Hope some people in the US take the congresspeople up on their offer.

Oh shit, at this rate, the bourgeoise might feel pressured to share a tiny portion of their wealth! They could end up giving an small concession to marginally improve lives again!

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., grew emotional while speaking to reporters [Thursday]. “That’s what these folks try to do, they try to scare you into inaction,” he said. “And I think that that’s the last thing that Charlie would want, is for people to be quiet, whether you agree with him or not.”
