You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I Googled "queer pride flags" to better understand this, and I feel like I have gone down a rabbit hole. There are so many flags...

[–] RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 45 points 1 month ago

The flags are named in the alt text, so you can just look at that

That's cool! Though (and I don't mean to make light of anyone) all I can think of is the old TV test pattern...

[–] pewgar_seemsimandroid@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

[–] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

I love how it was just denied. I don't know what else there is to expect, but just "...no" is so funny to me

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

someone should sort this by wavelength

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 1 month ago

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

[–] cupcakezealot@piefed.blahaj.zone 43 points 1 month ago (2 children)

the demi one is why is everyone so hot while holding hands in a museum date

[–] flicker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 month ago

I feel so fucking seen right now.

I am constantly baffled by what makes my switch flip. I'm often more baffled than the people around me.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

WTF DOES THIS MUSEUM'S AIR CONDITIONING KEEP FAILING

[–] joyjoy@lemmy.zip 32 points 1 month ago (2 children)

You put your pizza in the microwave and now it's tough and soggy at the same time.

[–] princessnorah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 1 month ago (2 children)

air fryer pizza reheating supremacy ftw

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 15 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Even just toaster oven > microwave pizza

[–] princessnorah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

My air fryer basically is a toaster oven, just with a powerful fan.

[–] peregrin5@piefed.social 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

my toaster oven has convection so it's basically also an air fryer

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Just eat it cold, enjoy the different state

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

if i'm feeling fancy, microwave then air fryer. microwave makes soggy, air fry takes away soggy. that way i don't burn the toppings

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

depending on the toppings that might make shit fly around though, safest bet is just a skillet on medium, gives a wonderfully crisp bottom too

[–] princessnorah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 month ago

Skillet's are also great, but I'm disabled and that is hard work for me.

[–] bownage@beehaw.org 1 points 1 month ago

Just eat it cold it's good

[–] carotte@lemmy.blahaj.zone 24 points 1 month ago

Thank you OP. One of the things I miss the most since leaving the aliensite is LGBallT, so you made me smile :)

[–] AlteredEgo@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Can someone decipher the color coding for me?

[–] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

top left: gay men
top right: lesbian women
bottom left: people who love more than 1 gender
bottom right: asexual people

[–] RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The corresponding pride flags are named in the alt text

[–] AlteredEgo@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

Oh a tooltip, thanks. Couldn't see it. I use Imagus addon which creates an overlay of the image in large, but doesn't wrap the alt text by default. Just found hotkey C.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What are the other two flags in the bi/pan square?

[–] RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 3 points 1 month ago

Omnisexual (left) and Polysexual (right)
