It's a great idea but those books will wear out fast

So what? Most books sit on shelves unread until they are recycled by Half Priced Books. Might as well use them until they fall apart instead of display them to look smart.
Around here they call them little libraries, they have roofs and doors (like a little house), and the books still get beat the hell up because hardly anyone wants to read YA Christian romance novels or F-tier dover math books.
Ours have stuffed animals too. When my kid gets a new one, we wash and donate one to the library in a sealed bag. Ours have much better books than that forced religion crap though.
Yeah, no religion in ours either. Sometimes people drop toys too. Someone dropped a kindle fire for some reason last time I visited.
Found LOTR 1 so now I had to buy the 2... Nice getting back to that book though, it's crazy how much better it is compared to the bombed down films.
I was concerned about rain but they actually have a cover that rolls down on both sides.
“I…”checks community “oh ok.”
I don't get it... is there anything to get?
Fucking horrible idea books do not like humidity. Especially not being handled by actively wet salty people.
Yeah if your beach gets 1 beach enjoyer a year. And its not like you leave super exotic rare medieval books there.
And the best books are worn books
You have never taken a book to the beach?
Yeah but think of the beach bonfire you can have. You don't need to even bring fire wood
Not only that, they will be full of sand within a week, if they are not stolen
It is a take one and leave one setup so they can't be stolen and the same books aren't expected to be out there for long periods of time.
Perhaps the most well-known is the extensive beach library at Albena, a restort on Bulgaria’s Black Sea. Designed by German architect Herman Kompernas, it’s built to withstand the sun, water, and wind, and equipped with a vinyl cover to protect the books in rain. It reopened this May with more than 6,000 volumes in 15 languages, all totally free to take — and visitors are encouraged to leave their own tomes for others.

We do this with “little libraries” all around the northern US at least.
We have them scattered around here in the middle of the US too.
I feel dumb that I needed this explained to me. Thanks.
lol I mean, I’m sure it’s probably still cool, and books are meant to be swapped out not taken to read on the beach and returned, but I feel the hotel or parking lot would’ve been a better area lol.
Books?
looks brillian but I wonder what the placement does to the books
In the sun, they'll get ...... red!
Take your upvote and choke on it, dad.
