If your replicated coffee goes cold while you read reports on your PADD, do you have to breakdown and re-replicated the coffee and mug just to get it hot again? (Assuming Kes isn't nearby to freshen it up for you.)
The Doctor is a projection of the electromagnetic and force fields. Microwaves are projections of electromagnetic fields.
Why couldn't B'Elanna rig up some projector to localize a microwave beam and follow your coffee cup? You could call it the ECH (Everyday Coffee Heater) since it was based off the Doctor.
this sounds like a great way to get stale coffee.
Also wouldn't it be easier to just get the doctor to stick his finger in it or something?
