being goth is a protest against a world that would rather swan-dive into fascism than apparently do anything else on this beautiful planet we are destroying

but this lib is not a goth

I wouldn't say so, it's a sub culture based around music that grew out of Punk. People in that scene aren't any better on the subject of fascism to be honest, Siouxsie Sioux wore swastika armbands and Rozz Williams owned a suspect amount of Nazi memorabilia. Not claiming that represents the music and the target audience in it's entirety but I don't think we should ignore the fact that it's no more immune to bigotry than any other predominantly white and western space.

People cut that shit out in the mid 80s at the latest. Punk is generally alright in the anti fascism area, the exceptions are few and far between and hated by everyone else. Goth and Industrial have had a LOT of cross pollination and id say generally to the detriment of both genres and Industrial music is near black metal levels of needing to research artist's politics.

Someone tell this person there were concentration camps in the US before Trump.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

Ummm actually sweaty, every single US president before Drumf was a paragon of human virtue? He literally invented the concept of concentration camps? maybe-later-kiddo

Okay get you and 20 friends to wear all black and meet us around the bloc at the next protest

[–] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 39 points 1 week ago

hopium If direct action gets the goods, indirect inaction must certainly also get the goods, right? It's like a double negative thing!

Johnny Cash over here. I wear all black cause it looks 😎

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black
Why you never see bright colors on my back
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on

I wear the black because there's a dang cheeto in the white house (x32)

Peak idealism.

This is like Operation Bagration when fascist forces were famously routed after the soviets painted their tanks black.

It was a normal day for me on the 4th of july. I woke up in the morning, wore some pants, and started my day. But then I remembered! I want to boycott the US. And so it began, and now I started wearing underwear every day until they US falls as a Protest!

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So when mayo pete gets elected after Trump's third term and the camp is still open, what will they say?

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

“they’re here illegally”

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Makes me think of how one month into the first Obama administration, they let everyone off for the 2008 financial crash and Obama was like "they didn't break any laws. There's nothing I can do" then spent eight years not pushing for laws

[–] sexywheat@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago (3 children)

How about instead of mocking libs whose heart is in the right place we send them links to the PSL website instead

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

PSL wouldn't take that loser

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

Action Network, baybee

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

they said on hexbear dot net slash slop

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

Because I doubt this person's heart is in the right place. They aren't actually opposing this, or asking how they can oppose this, they are loudly declaring "LOOK AT ME! I'M DOING A THING TO SHOW HOW MUCH I DON'T LIKE THIS!" They aren't inconveniencing anyone, they aren't informing anyone, they aren't trying to accomplish anything other than jerking themselves off over how much they care.

[–] TrashGoblin@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

Am I going to have to stop wearing black now?

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

[–] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

[–] Meltyheartlove@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

[–] GladimirLenin@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

Welcome to the black parade, drumpf.

[–] CocteauChameleons@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

What in the fuck is this

[–] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

If this person has a followers mass and is not silent, addressing the issue each time is needed while also wearing black, sounds amazing. Even without the mass of followers, it sounds fantastic to me.
