You can blame whoever you want, but the real blame comes down to one simple thing.

Religion.

The true cancer of society. The ultimate grift and control. The ultimate lie that turned millions into monsters. I hope that when soceity resets itself that all religion is abolished or at least a real law that restricts all religions from public services. Apparently, the separation of church and state is a smoke screen in today's society.

Hear, hear. Give me myth. Give me legend. Leave your theology at the door, though. I love me an ancient tale.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 8 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

To be fair, though, popular myths are what led us here.

Ancient Aliens is the perfect gateway to anti-science, which gave us figures like RFK Jr who now has the power to fuck all the progress we’ve made in the hundreds of years since vaccines.

Creationism is now being taught in public schools, which undermines centuries of science. Public science is being dismantled, all for their rapture fantasies.

They’re not hiding climate science because they disagree, but because they think it’s a sign of the apocalypse and a good thing, so they don’t want people to fight it.

They’ve said this out loud, many times. It’s all on video. Again, Pikachu face.

[–] ArmoredThirteen@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Could you link one of those videos, or some names or something so I can find them myself?

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

Anything from the Discovery Institute or the stuff aimed at kids by PragerU is usually a good start. Materials by Creation Ministries or any of the christian textbook companies is good, too.

I don’t have specific video links, but like I said, it doesn’t matter much. If you search for ‘christian curriculum’ or ‘christian textbook’ you’ll see many various examples.

Too much drama for something natural for humans, that humans evolve anew when it's taken from them.

You can't live without religion, you'll just invent a new one.

Kinda how Christianity took over Mediterranean when the plethora of old cults turned into something like attractions in a park, and for mystery religions it was just another mystery religion, but easier to access.

Or how Soviet ideology was quite similar to a religion (the magical part was concentrated in the "dialectical materialism" and "scientific communism" things), and when people stopped believing into that, hundreds of sects and superstitious beliefs start popping like mushrooms after a rain.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago

Clearly some of us can. But as a whole we do seem to crave finding purpose behind random events.

I feel like nobody read Project 2025. Everyone seems all Pikachu face lately, when they’ve not only told us all this, but blatantly captured all the levers of power.

What did you expect they’d do?

Spoiler: VPNs will be outlawed soon.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 33 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Also spoiler: This stuff regarding pornography is built so that they will soon define existing as a trans person as being pornographic, and if you're seen existing as a trans person in front of children, you've committed a pedophilic crime against children, and oh yeah, they want to bring back capital punishment for those kind of crimes.

This is just an excuse to literally start murdering the LGBTQ+ community at large.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 3 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

I don’t think they’re thinking it through like this. Yeah, that will likely happen, but I doubt this is an end goal they have. They don’t think things through like that. They’re reactionary, and trans people make them feel things they don’t want to feel, because Jesus watches them touch themselves. It’s really that simple.

The genocide is on the horizon, but most of them don’t know that – and won’t know it for decades afterwards. That’s why this is so dangerous.

e: look at the porn they watch then tell me this isn’t true. They think these are fetishes, not identities, because they’re devoid of empathy. It’s horrible, but if you understand this, their actions, however reprehensible, make sense.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

It's literally on page 5 of Project 2025, which equates being transgender with abusing children. Then on page 554 they posit that they must increase the use of the death penalty and they single out "crimes against children" to be one of the things that they should put people to death for. This is literally the plan.

https://static.heritage.org/project2025/2025_MandateForLeadership_FULL.pdf

Page 5:

Pornography, manifested today in the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children, for instance, is not a political Gordian knot inextricably binding up disparate claims about free speech, property rights, sexual liberation, and child welfare. It has no claim to First Amendment protection. Its purveyors are child predators and misogynistic exploiters of women. Their product is as addictive as any illicit drug and as psychologically destructive as any crime. Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.

Page 554:

Capital punishment is a sensitive matter, as it should be, but the current crime wave makes deterrence vital at the federal, state, and local levels. However, providing this punishment without ever enforcing it provides justice neither for the victims’ families nor for the defendant. The next conservative Administration should therefore do everything possible to obtain finality for the 44 prisoners currently on federal death row. It should also pursue the death penalty for applicable crimes—particularly heinous crimes involving violence and sexual abuse of children—until Congress says otherwise through legislation.

I too am quite surprised so few people seem to have been reading that book. I'm not even American but I've read it.

So much of what has been happening recently is explained in it.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 8 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

Sorry, I guess I wasn’t clear.

The Heritage Society has thought this through – I meant rank and file republicans haven’t. Thus my original comment about people going Pikachu face when this shit happens when it was all spelt out in Project 2025.

It’s infuriating that most people had no idea what they were voting for, but that’s true. It’s also true that many would still deny it whilst ruffling the ashes of their neighbours from their hair. And they won’t acknowledge it in the future, either.

e: sorry, my fault; rereading, I see I switched between ‘they’ meaning the leadership vs the majority of constituents mid-sentence.

e2: this is exactly why citizens in towns near the Nazi’s death camps were made to walk through and look at what they’d done, by the way. People refuse to reckon with their decisions unless made to look.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Thank you kindly for the clarification. This, I largely agree with. However I do think a large contingency of Trump voters literally want to return to an era where they can abuse the LGBTQ+ community and other minorities with impunity.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

That’s true, but again, not consciously. They think of themselves as morally pure, and they’re only following their god’s word. It’s not their fault that others are wicked, and they’ve tried to save us from hell.

That’s why we can’t reach them. They think they’re the righteous ones, and will think that long past when they’re literally lighting the fires upon which they burn us.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I still think that's giving them a little too much credit and that religion is just a convenient excuse to hate people who are different.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

That’s certainly what it was at first, but we’re talking about people who have been indoctrinated from birth for generations.

e: I strongly encourage you to watch some of their educational content. I won’t even try to guide you towards anything specific. Just any of it.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I was sent to a private Baptist school until I was in the sixth grade so I am all too familiar.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

A very large faction has been weaponising that indoctrination against others, and it’s been increasingly effective.

I am heartened that it didn’t work on you.

If anything my experiences at that school sent me barrelling down a path towards atheism.

Is this federated? I use Voyager on iOS exclusively, and that link doesn’t resolve to a community for me. I searched for those terms on Lemmy and didn’t find anything.

If this doesn’t exist on Lemmy, I might start a community and dedicate my life to it.

[–] joekar1990@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It should just be a hyperlink to a website that was built by a couple of redditors. So not technically federated at this point.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Okay, thanks. It doesn’t want to load properly in whatever built-in mobile browser Voyager is implementing.

I might make a community…

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It works on Voyager on iOS. Or at least for me it does.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 hours ago

I have an older phone and I’m not up to date. It’s probably a ‘me’ problem. Thanks, though!

[–] Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world 14 points 7 hours ago

It's defeating. I remember telling folks left and right. Anyone that would listen. I really don't even feel like talking to folks about it anymore now. It's been a very numb year...

[–] atticus88th@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Jokes on them. My 100s of TBs of downloaded porn has a backlog that will take me decades to get through. Funny enough my steam backlog is in the 500s but I'll only keep playing the same 10 games until I die.

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 12 points 8 hours ago

Washington state should call the SCOTUS decision pornography and ban it in the state for anyone under 1200 years old.
