Iran and Israel have struck each other many times over the last few days. There has been a general focus on military facilities and headquarters by both sides, though Israel has also struck oil facilities, civilian structures and hospitals, and in return for this, Iran has struck major scientific centers and the Haifa oil facilities.

Israel appears to have three main aims. First, to collapse the Iranian state, either through shock and breakdown by killing enough senior officials, or via some sort of internal military coup. Second, to try and destroy Iranian nuclear sites and underground missile cities, or at least to paralyze them long enough to achieve the first and third goals. And third, to bring the US into a direct conflict with Iran. This is because the US better equipped to fight them than Israel is (though victory would still not be guaranteed depending on what Iran chooses to do).

Iranian nuclear facilities are hidden deep underground (800 meters), far beyond the depth range of even the most powerful bunker busters (~70 meters or so), and built such that the visible ground entrances are horizontally far away in an unknown direction from the actual underground chambers. Only an extremely competent full-scale American bombing force all simultaneously using multiple of the most powerful conventional (perhaps even nuclear) bunker busters could even hypothetically hope to breach them (and we have seen how, in practice, American bunker busters have largely failed to impair or deter Ansarallah). There are several analysts on both sides who have concluded that it is entirely impossible to physically prevent Iran from building nukes.

I fully expect the US to join the war. I believe the current ambiguity is a deliberate invention of the US while they work to move their military assets into position, and as soon as they are ready, the US will start bombing Iran. After that, Iran's leadership must - if they haven't already - harden their hearts, and strike back with no fear, or risk following the path of Libya, Syria, and Iraq, either into either surrender, occupation, or annihilation. Every day where they do not possess a nuke is a day where lives are being lost and cities are being bombed.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Fed holds key rate steady, still sees two more cuts this year CNBC

The Federal Reserve kept its key borrowing rate targeted in a range between 4.25%-4.5%, where it has been since December.

However, the central bank expects inflation to remain elevated and sees lower economic growth ahead.

Still, the Federal Open Market Committee expects to make two rate reductions later this year, according to the closely watched “dot plot.”

The Fed still refused to cut rate, once again citing “inflation risks” even though inflation has dropped to 2.7%. This is bad news for China’s local governments who need the Fed rate cut to alleviate their debt burden.

I had previously expected the recent US-China negotiation to have at least involved a small rate cut as a sign of good will, but it looks like the US-China talk is far from over.

Isn't the US Fed independent from the other branches when it comes to setting interest rates? Is it possible that trade talks (on the US side led by trump and his cabinet I'm assuming) could lead to a guaranteed rate increase/decrease? Trump has been yelling at Jerome Powell to lower the rates for months now

Most countries maintain a nominal split between fiscal and monetary policy (or however you want to describe it). Japan has the Bank of Japan and the Ministry of Finance, the EU has the Europe Central Bank and dozens of finance ministries, the UK has the Bank of England and the Treasury, China has the People’s Bank of China and the Ministry of Finance, and the USA has the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department. The people in charge of the finance departments are appointed with different goals and objectives then those in monetary ones. The fact remains that these are all political agencies subject to political will. Central bankers are supposed to be “above politics”, because in liberal theory economics and politics are separate.

Trump represents a split in government and economic priorities from within Washington, compared to the past. i would argue that he also represents a factional squabble over profits and contracts within the USAmerican bourgeoisie. Trump calling for the Federal Reserve to do what exactly he wants to support a tariff policy most liberals (read USAmerican liberals and conservatives) think is stupid had Powell dragging his feet and saying no. China owns over 800 billion dollars of USAmerican debt/ dollars. A different situation could see them cooperate.

To give an example, the Plaza Accords of 1985 are mostly known for the effect of kneecapping a rising Japan. The actual agreement was for Europe and Japan to lower the value of the dollar, because they felt it was too high. The agreement did fix the trade deficit the US had with Europe. The dollar had appreciated after Volcker of the Federal Reserve raised rates, which created currency depreciation that led other countries to the negotiating table. When the Empire is at stake, both hands can work together just fine. If the various finance theorists and decision makers decide that some policy is necessary for containing China and maintaining US financial hegemony, Powell will call an emergency meeting on the spot.

If anyone's wondering why there's little to no footage out of Iran: the internet has been down for over 12 hours, only one spike of connectivity. I'd guess to try combat Israeli spying through CCTV cameras open to the internet, and the use of the network by Mossad assets in Iran. War censorship is also another potential reason.

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 16 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Didn't they announce yesterday that they were planning to shut off the external Internet?

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 10 points 2 hours ago

Yeah I think so.

And just after I posted about little to no images from Iran, the first images of Israeli airstrikes on the Arak heavy water nuclear facility have appeared online. So Israel did hit something there. On the off chance anyone on here lives nearby or has friends or family in Arak, please tell them to stay inside and close doors and windows if possible. There is a very real possibility of radioactivity, even if the facility was/is inactive as suspected. It's a completely above ground facility, there won't be any containment of the radiation underground. This is very serious, radiation sickness is no joke, stay inside with windows and doors closed.

Geolocation source

This is very worrying and I really hope that there's no radioactivity... What a nightmare

Nothing would cheer me up more than the complete humilliation and utter destruction of "israel"

That being said, isn't this a heavy water reactor for civilian use?

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 23 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

It's Israeli airstrikes on an Iranian reactor yes. It's suspected to be inoperable, was designed for civilian use but the ability to generate plutonium was a big issue.

A former CIA analyst is predicting an Israeli false flag attack against the Nimitz, found this shared on the ResistanceTrench telegram

FLASH ALERT: CAPT, USS Nimitz, expect to be attacked as you near Middle East - NOT by Iran, but by Israel with false-flag attack, blaming Iran. Honor your oath to the Constitution: Do not cover it up, as the US Navy did when Israel attacked the USS Liberty

Llast time Trump went right up tp the line of going to war with Russia and Iran. Then he shitcanned bolton. Not without setting the stage at first.

I wonder who will break first this time? Trump or Bibi? It seems thetr is internal struggle between the ranks - and if they can get it out loud enough Bibi is a menance to his own people and draws Pissreal into these fights to prolong his selfish rule - would Trump toss Bibi? Or would Pissreal themselves toss him?

This pending war seems to be the end play of a desperate flailing Bibi with not much more cards up his ass to play.

If Bibi does a false flag on the US to try to drag us in - is there enough internal opposition and awareness to call it out and maybe tell Bibi to go to hell?

[–] cricbuzz@hexbear.net 28 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

former CIA

aren't most people CIA for life?

[–] Torenico@hexbear.net 75 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Boy... October 7th really did set things in motion huh? Looking back at it, when we first saw the videos of our brave men and women crossing the Wall of Hate with motorcycles, pickup trucks, paragliders... didn't we all feel something really big was going to happen?

There is no going back now, we live in a new world. The brave palestinians who launched an all-out assault against the zionist monster changed the world, with nothing to lose and a lot to win. May that be the date that marks the beginning of "israel's" final moments on Earth.

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 47 points 3 hours ago

I've probably said it before, but I hope that when future generations open a history book they will read about the Palestinian struggle and the brave resistance on October 7th that paved the way for the eventual collapse of the Zionist entity and the US empire.

[–] sexywheat@hexbear.net 39 points 3 hours ago

The conquest of Gaza and Palestine was the birth of Israel and so too, I hope, its death.

Tucker referes to the political governement of isntrael and in questioning directly shows conflation between Israel as The People as in all Jews and Pissrael the rabid genocidal governement and man made borders.

I hope that deprograms some frothingfash coming from tucker-catboy . Conservatives and libs need that distinction spelled out like this.
