Wow, I got the Savings Master achievement in the Penny-pinching Vanguard category FrogPog

It's still just so weird seeing this Skinner Box video game shit break containment and permeate everything

My work has similarly game-ified phishing emails, every once in a while they send me a test phishing email and I'm supposed to click a button to report it. Just got upgraded to steel shield achievement 🫡

My work does that too, it kind of does give me a little pleasure seeing my name up in the leaderboard at 100% fake phishing emails reported smuglord

Gamify everything so that the rubes are too distracted to notice the price of goods.

“Oh hey, this $45 carton of eggs just got me the points I needed for the ‘crackin a few’ achievement.”

I'm not a fan of skinner box style motivation. Even in video games. However, if the supermarket had leaderboard posted this would unfortunately work on me.

lol, no joke. I like having some absurdly high score in the lowest stakes possible arena. like so normal people see it and go, "jesus, what is that LordOverkill42069 dude's malfunction?" and I'm like, smirking, "I minmaxed during that laundry detergent sale and got the stacked 2x3x multiplier. so now I'm holding inventory in my basement until the holidays for gifts."

Some overcompetitive weirdo with lots of disposable income would put way too much time and money into making sure he'd stay on top

I have played enough pay to win games to observe a phenomena: There will be a point at the top where the people with money are all gathered with similar scores, then there will be a steep drop to the regular players. So long I sit at the precipice of this 'whale cliff' I'm happy.

My supermarket doesn't have that. All I get is "year to date savings". :(
