to be fair they also do this for people who get threatened with rape or other forms of violence.

oh wait no they don't.

It's so nice of the police to form a barrier to keep unsuspecting people from shopping at a Nazi store

[–] joyjoy@lemm.ee 5 points 1 hour ago

Or from returning their ~~EVs~~ bombs to the ~~EV~~ bomb store.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

Can they do the same at every Tesla dealer 24/7??

[–] gamer@lemm.ee 17 points 3 hours ago

Imagine risking your life to protect a cybertruck

Please let this picture be in grade-school history books for this section of history.

It's easier for those cops to stand around than doing anything useful for society.

They get paid either way.

[–] qbus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

But with all the cops in one place, how are they going to get their quotas in?

[–] Prandom_returns@lemm.ee 2 points 2 hours ago

Might as well do a nazi salute while they're at it.

[–] praxis_jack@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

It's always so damn obvious who they protect and serve. Some people just refuse to see it.

My God that was a depressing read. Just evil triumphant

The question would be if they would deploy so many police troops to your local, small business or if this is just a benefit of being an oligarch.

[–] rocket_dragon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 6 hours ago

I haven't seen evidence of police troops deployed like this to a small business so it's logical to conclude it's a benefit exclusive to oligarchs.

[–] NightCrawlerProMax@lemmy.world 13 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

The problem is not they’re protecting a Tesla showroom. They should stop any and all possibilities of violence. That’s their job. The problem is that they wouldn’t show up for you or your neighborhood small business if they faced the same possibility of threat.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago

I also doubt that a dealership nested in an urban center is going to be targeted by arsons. They're just there to stop vandalism, something the dealership could do themselves by hiring night guards. Instead, the tax payers are paying.

[–] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Support the oligarchs

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 19 points 7 hours ago

This makes no sense other than politics...

If you ignore politics, why would there ever need to be that many cops there like that?

Like why isn't 3 or 4 enough, or even 1 or 2?

A presence to deter a problem makes sense, this is like a comedy sketch.

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemm.ee 11 points 6 hours ago

Fuck the police that put companies over people. If you’re one of those cops… fuck you.

[–] NutWrench@lemmy.ml 11 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Those cops have more important places to be.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

there's a black person in the area to shoot?

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 hours ago

A job hunting workshop?

[–] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world 34 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

To serve and protect rich Nazis.

hey! they would also protect rich secular fascists and poor nazis. give them the credit they deserve.

Class traitors.

So sad to see What Poland and other former communist countries saw 40 years ago…

[–] painfulasterisk1@lemmy.ml 19 points 10 hours ago

That's an overkill way to promote "Don't buy a Tesla".

[–] ricketyrackets@lemmy.ml 136 points 14 hours ago (9 children)

American tax payers dollars being diverted to support private organizations while its social services are being gutted.

Musk is a Nazi, and the only good Nazi is a dead Nazi.

My last comment on this:

Nah, most likely Tesla money. Most often when you see police performing a "private" function like this they're being paid by the requesting party.

Just like cops escorting a funeral procession or directing traffic for a church or private school, they're paid by whoever requested the service. Police departments are like any business. They got payroll to meet, obligations to cover, etc. They can't just yank cops from their normal duties for shit like this. They use off-duty or "*retired" officers.

Say what you will about capital hiring rent-a-cops, but they're probably not doing this on our dime.

* Buddy of mine was briefly a cop, could still strap on the uniform to escort a funeral or the like.

[–] StaticFalconar@lemmy.world 1 points 56 minutes ago

As much as your comment is the truth. It'll get buried in the circle jerk of ACAB and the ignorance of your tax dollars at work crowd.

Was there a threat made against that location? Or did they decide to waste the time of every police officer putting them there as a precaution?

[–] melpomenesclevage@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

if they're standing in a line, they're not raping murdering kidnapping or stealing anyone/anything. I'm fully in support of them doing this.

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Wait till you see how much money they’re getting paid (at taxpayer expense)!

well yes, and I suppose that theft should really earn them a noose in a just world, but they would be doing that no matter what, in addition to whatever other crap.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 11 points 7 hours ago

Fair point. Police aren't hassling people and this is an effective way to discourage people from going to the dealership. I approve.
