Got into it with another leftist that was praising Joti Bror, a British communist TERF piece of shit. Their defense was "you don't have to agree with her on [sic] the trans stuff, and still appreciate her analysis of other things."

No motherfucker, I can get better analysis from people who don't invalidate my or my comrades identities. I don't have to listen to her for shit, fuck off with that. TERFism breeds fascism every fucking time.

Goddamnit.

Anyways yeah I just wanted a space to vent. Probably won't reply or anything.

This isn't even true, transphobia is the madness rune of political tendencies and will rapidly devour the rest of a person's brain in short order like so much naegleria

And how much of a communist are you if you want to pick and choose who gets the same rights? I mean other than giving no rights to capitalists

100-com weird gender shit is not exempt from ruthless criticism of all that exists

TERFs get the wall. No exceptions.

On a purely formal logic level, someone being a TERF doesn't mean that they are wrong about everything else as well. However, in the real world, I get very suspicious of the thinking of someone who holds clearly irrational and hateful beliefs.

If you have these brainworms, how can you be right about other stuff? If you think like that about an oppressed minority that does no harm to anyone, how can I trust you to stand up for anyone else? If you are willing to throw trans people under the bus, how can I trust that you will not do the same with gay people, with ethnic minorities, with your own comrades.

Speaking of Marxist transphobes that people still recommend, does anyone have a suggestion for people to read and cite that cover similar ground as Cockshott? I don't recommend him but it would be nice to have a locked and loaded, "read X instead".

I really liked The People's Republic of Walmart as a more approachable discussion of planned economies.

Thanks! I'll check it out. I've heard of it but was told it was somewhat liberal.

[โ€“] starkillerfish@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

i would say its liberal in the sense it tries to appeal to liberals, which to be isn't necessarily a bad thing

Good to know!

I'm pretty comfortable with reading/listening to analysis from people who think I should die, but I would never go to them to actually learn? I think of it more as an exercise of my own ideology when I try to understand someone with whom I clearly disagree.

I would never actually praise any of these people, they exist solely to absorb my derision and help me solidify my beliefs in the face of constant pressure to conform. Anyone who reads theory and is into terf shit is probably just fash with bad reading comprehension.
