I once had an idea for a dating app where you could just put a profile up and then set yourself to a unique mode where you would essentially automatically match with anyone who swiped right but also you couldn't scroll through profiles either.

My working name for the app was "Settle"

"Settle", but it's Tinder Al-Quds

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago

This but just for people in former colonies, call it Settlr

I have this confirmation bias where every time I hear the name of a new app or service and think "that's so stupid who would choose a name like that for a product", 100% of the time it's massively successful, and i often end up using it.

Quibi was a short-form streaming service that offered news and entertainment programs in 5- to 10-minute chunks

Damn, remember when we still had 5- to 10-minute attention spans? Really dating yourself with this reference here.

I remember a psych professor h I had had to choose a pronounceable word with no linguistic value and she settled on "plinth". Very embarrassing.

Zumf probably means something already.

[–] MLRL_Commie@hexbear.net 6 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Plinth does sound fake, though. If you were saying s nonsense sentence and threw in plinth, I'd forget it was a real word immediately.
