I announce that his folk hero status has now been revoked.

ban-hammer

Just another jilted alt right dude who was fine when he thought the system was for him and then got burned and lashed out.

No praxis, only edge and entitlement.

My authority to decide this? None, don't @ me.

On the one hand he killed a ceo.

On the other he's a retvrn chud.

But on the other hand it was a health insurance ceo.

But then he's praising Elon Musk.

But he raised class conscious among the working poor of the USA.

Yeah but the Elon shit.

[-] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago

If this guy ends up being the role model for the USA's working poor, I worry what conclusions they'll draw...

Yeaaah like it's not class consciousness if it's just angry white men spitting their dummy's out and lashing out.

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

tbh I'm just going with the assumption that even the working poor in the USA are cooked and have brainworms. Embrace the doomer I guess.

The biggest clue he was not a yankee leftist was that he actually did something

[-] Verenata@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

Lmao absolutely roasted fire

Much better I think to emphasize the CEO in all this. A 'hero' can turn out to be a wet fart with incoherent beliefs, but a dead enemy is an unmistakable win and an unambiguous threat.

[-] Verenata@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

Nobody better be sad about a dead CEO gunpoint that's just lib shit

[-] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Emphasize not empathize, no one is empathic to the CEO packwatch

I believe in separating the art from the artist.

[-] Yukiko@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

I refuse this notion as that's what a lot of Harry Potter fans say to justify their bullshit.

[-] Verenata@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

They are the bad takes haver after all

[-] BadTakesHaver@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

absolutely, this is just the one exception

The weirdest one for me is the guy who wrote Altered Carbon. Who is a transphobic centrist who wrote three books about how transhumanist Maoists are cool and good (apparently wasn't his intention).

[-] Verenata@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

Let em 👏

Not gunna cry about less CEOs lmao

[-] UltraGreen@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Sorry, are we just all taking the cops word for it? A group of class traitors, known for lying and false arrests? No, they saw this guy on a security camera, and decided to frame someone so their billionaire bosses would feel contempt. I'm not believing anything from the cops mouths.

But if this is the guy, maybe more right wing chuds will shoot CEOs. Two birds with one stone kinda thing. No one loses here.

[-] josie@vegantheoryclub.org 21 points 1 week ago

I do not believe this shit in the slightest. This was clearly a planned shooting and the Adjuster put actual effort into evading the police, you're telling me he just went out to McDonalds a week later in the exact same outfit, conveniently carrying all the evidence the cops need including an anti-health insurance manifesto and the actual fucking weapon and fake ID he used to commit the crime? lol.

[-] Frivolous_Beatnik@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

Exactly where I am. Surprised so many people here are accepting anything coming from the pigs.

[-] imogen_underscore@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I'm just gonna put some gripes with other posts/comments I've seen today here. Luigi is clearly not "still a good guy" like many on here seems to be suggesting lol. some guy who thinks "wokeness" is evil or whatever is not my comrade, regardless of how many CEOs he has killed. also saying this is "praxis" betrays a complete lack of understanding/refusal to apply theory. something that seems to go out the window when a fun (not denying that) rupture like this happens.

[-] Verenata@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It makes me uncomfortable that people can just ignore his ideology, and ideology that is abjectly killing minorities as we speak and propagating within white reactionary men, just cos he killed a ceo.

Like killing the ceo IS funny. It was a good bit.

But when I see stuff like what you've quoted it makes me think that yeah users here probably didn't make the same connection we are making, but by saying "still a good guy" it's like ermmm what about the fact his ideology will include the erasure or even eradication of people on this site? This dude does not like women or queer people let's be clear. But that's fine if he kills the right people as he is "still a good guy"?!?!?! Make that make sense.

I don't think people mean to do that but when you are a person this guy would opress It's gross to see him characterised as still positive despite his beliefs.

Like people need to get that good act doesn't equate to good guy. It's so childish.

[-] imogen_underscore@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

i agree, I think it's a very privileged way to act. "willing to murder CEOs" is quite low on the list of desired qualities in potential comrades, not being an anti-wokeness lunatic is significantly more important lol.

Like people need to get that good act doesn't equate to good guy. It's so childish.

totally, i think painting the killing in hindsight as some ultimate moral act that absolves him of being a right wing culture warrior is an extremely regressive way of looking at morality to say the least.

yeah i guess we'll wait to hear from him, his lawyer, or whatever.

his last tweet was in the summer i really doubt he became an ideologically committed anti-capitalist in less then 6 mos and kept it to himself

so yeah revoked. i knew i would be disappointed.

honestly would have been cooler if he was just extremely apolitical but only posted about how the insurance industry sucked

[-] Verenata@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

If it had been just that then I'd agree this might be a moment of budding class consciousness and a chance for a bigger and productive conversation about our system leading to at the very least maybe some sort of reform that's not just performative ineffective rubbish.

But it wasn't aubrey-cry-2

[-] PM_ME_YOUR_FOUCAULTS@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

Okay but I would still like it if every chud with a grudge and a gun killed a CEO instead of their usual targets

[-] Rom@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

He was still a net positive for the world at least shrug-outta-hecks

[-] Lussy@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Nah, there’s ways this can actually turn out for the worse. In the grand scheme of things, 1 regenerative Bouge enemy down means nothing if this kid can be used to prop up right wing rhetoric.

Honestly, this might actually be worst case scenario.

Problematic fave

[-] imogen_underscore@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

i agree with you. though i am of the opinion it would probably have been bad if the guy turned out to be like "I did this to further the cause of Marxism-Leninism". i don't really understand why people were hoping for that.

[-] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

Yeah, if someone like this turns out to be a left-wing radical, it'll be used to justify crackdowns on leftists, if someone like this turns out to be a right-wing radical, it'll legitimize rightism as "the voice of the people". There's really a pretty narrow range of opinions I was necessarily hoping this guy had.

[-] VARXBLE@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 week ago

Is what he did rad as fuck? Absolutely.

Is Luigi himself based? No.

I'll admit this one stings. I so wanted a comrade folk hero named Luigi.

[-] Verenata@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

Saaaaaaaaaaame I was so stoked but reality is here to ruin all our fun.

Time for us to put our big person pants on and be like xi-gun-1xi-gun-2 luigi-dance

The guy did the funniest bit this week. That's it.

[-] iie@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

I wanted the shooter to disappear. No manifesto. No politics. An anonymous shooter represents everyone.

[-] sovietknuckles@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

His reading history is what he believed in the past, not what he believed while adjusting.

Consider that he was heading down the wrong path for a long time, but then realized that he was wrong, and acted accordingly. Cancelling someone because of their past beliefs is unproductive, and Luigi is proof of someone's world view changing for the better.
