My 40-something year old cousin is going in for emergency surgery in St. Petersburg tomorrow morning, and his wife has decided to bunker down with their two kids and my uncle despite being in a mandatory evacuation zone. I once again will encourage you all to check out Jon Elmer’s “Resistance Report” section on this week’s Electronic Intifada livesteam. The whole thing is great but Jon’s segment (starts at 1:51:40) is really a wonderful cure for doomerism.

The Resistance is fighting hard and it appears in Gaza that their ability to fight the entity has not degraded at all in the last year. And it’s only just now that Israel has had to commit serious ground troops to Lebanon and this had to come at the cost of taking troops out of Gaza, so the already inept IOF has to try and do more with less in Gaza (and they were already failing with “more”).

Foxconn Building Nvidia Superchip Facility In Mexico

Foxconn has chosen Mexico for the site of the world's largest manufacturing facility for Nvidia's GB200 superchips. These chips are a "key component of the U.S. firm's next-generation Blackwell family computing platform," notes Reuters. From the report:

"We're building the largest GB200 production facility on the planet," said Benjamin Ting, Foxconn senior vice president for the cloud enterprise solutions business group. Nvidia said in August that it had started shipping Blackwell samples to its partners and customers after tweaking its design, and expected several billion dollars in revenue from these chips in the fourth quarter. Ting said the partnership between his company and Nvidia was very important and everyone was asking for Nvidia's Blackwell platform. "The demand is awfully huge," Ting said at the company's annual tech day in Taipei, standing next to Nvidia's vice president for AI and robotics, Deepu Talla.

Speaking to reporters later, Foxconn Chairman Young Liu said the plant was being built in Mexico, and that the capacity there would be "very, very enormous". He did not elaborate. Foxconn already has a large manufacturing presence in Mexico and has invested more than $500 million to date in the state of Chihuahua. Liu said the company's supply chain was ready for the AI revolution, adding its manufacturing capabilities include the "advanced liquid cooling and heat dissipation technologies necessary to complement the GB200 server's infrastructure."

Hurricane Milton, currently pounding the north of the Yucatan peninsula, is expected to make landfall in Florida on Wednesday. It has intensified into a ~~Category 4 storm, and might even reach~~ Category 5 ~~before landfall.~~ Large portions of the coast of western Florida can expect storm surges over 12 feet (3.6 meters), in addition to 5-15 inches (13-38cm) of rainfall and winds reaching ~~130MPH+ (209km/h+)~~ 157+ MPH (252+ km/h).

RAINFALL: Rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches, with localized totals up to 15 inches, are expected across portions of the Florida Peninsula and the Keys through Wednesday night. This rainfall brings the risk of considerable flash, urban, and areal flooding, along with the potential for moderate to major river flooding.

Milton will also produce rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches with isolated totals around 6 inches across northern portions of the Yucatan Peninsula..

Denmark's succdem-led right-wing regime intends to clamp down on the right express pro-Palestinian and anti-apartheid views. A new bill proposed by the regime that is likely to pass Denmark's rubber-stamp parliament will slap a statutory extra 50% on top of the punishment for "hate crimes" committed at protests or public meetings. In addition, the police will be enabled to unilaterally declare a nationwide "increased punishment period" during which the penalty for any so-called "hate crimes" will be increased by 50%.

Free expression on the internet is also in the crosshairs of the regime's authoritarian measures. If the bill passes the police will be empowered to demand the removal of any "terrorism-related" material from social media, online media or websites. Service providers will only be given one hour to comply, there is no system of appeals and the current requirement for a judge to sign off on the censorship will be removed, effectively giving the police unchecked powers to remove any material that crosses the regime.

The bill itself is written in abstract legal terms normally used for hate crimes but the regime makes no attempt to hide that the intent is to punish and suppress the movement against apartheid, genocide and zionism. The only example given by the succdem-controlled ministry of justice for when the new powers would be used are so-called "antisemitic hate crimes" relating to the Al-Aqsa Flood.

The regime has consistently been equating anti-zionism with antisemitism. In the remarks to the bills the regime writes that it is intended to suppres so-called antisemitism "generated by a disdain for the state of 'Israel'".

EDIT: Interesting. They call the Oct 7 action "preemptive". I can't recall exactly how this has been documented over the last year, but I suspect this means Hamas had good intel telling them that Israel's escalation of the genocide that's happening over the last year was going to happen anyway. We should perhaps work on analyzing this and making it clear where/if true. On some level we've, of course, known that Israel was just looking for an excuse to flatten Gaza. But solid evidence of that that we could shove in liberals' faces would be pretty cool. It undermines the "but, but, but was it WORTH IT?!" argument.
