That's a pretty cool one! 👍

That sounds a bugillion times better to me. Netflix = wasting 2 hours scrolling and watching 5 minutes of garbage a half dozen times before returning to scrolling. Like can we just watch some nurd with a PhD on YT instead? All that science talk is super sexy.

I think you're doing Netflix wrong, but that's fine.

Searching for bugs? Hell yeah!

Taking my shoes off for it? No thanks!

I used to go around barefoot all the time, but at some point I got stung by fire ants one too many times and just kinda stopped.

Also there are a lot of nasties you can get from walking around barefoot, especially around moisture.

Based on the background, it looks like there may be some wading involved, so that's probably why you'd be taking them off

Unless you brought some waders, of course

Hunting for bugs as in entomology, or hunting for bugs as in testing software? I'm down for either, I just need to know whether I need a magnifying glass or a console and vim.

I prefer the “we’re gonna install Jellyfin and torrent some movies” version but you do you.

Sending this to my entomologist friend thank you

In all my adult life, I can only think of one friend of mine who would absolutely be down for going out and hunting for bugs. Fortunately, some of my friends have young kids, and young kids love to go bug hunting.

Still wish I knew how to find more adults who would be enthusiastic about going on a bug hunting adventure rather than just being weirded out by it.

Thankfully i have a weird enough friend group that many would come and some would likely be excited if i suggested going bug hunting considering we have already hiked a couple dozen kilometers with the purpose of rating our local caves by how proper caves they are.

[–] TheSlad@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 months ago

She could've just open with that "Hey lets muck about in the woods looking for cool bugs"

"You son of a bitch, I'm in."

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 months ago

I don't wear shoes in my waders anyway.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Nah thanks, for bug hunting I'm using RemedyBG.
