I legit thought he was gonna die on stage

[-] Cowbee@hexbear.net 22 points 4 months ago

Would've been far funnier than what we got, that's for sure.

Tbf what we did get was a lot funnier than I expected.

like that one Ukranian nazi from several years ago who just fell over and died mid sentence

I don’t remember where I heard it but there was something about reporters complaining about not being let in the studio with them because they thought there would likely be a medical emergency that they would want to cover.

There's another debate in September, don't give up hope yet

Zero Candidates Kamala has been one heartbeat from the presidency for years because in a Democracy...?

[-] DickFuckarelli@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

Possibly the funniest outcome of this shitshow.

[-] Ericthescruffy@hexbear.net 10 points 4 months ago

Second funniest. Funniest outcome to me is still Biden dying mid campaign leading to Trumps reelection and Kamala being a lame duck for like a month.

....Then Trump dies 2 weeks before taking office and whoever his running mate is becomes president.

I don't think this is really that great of an "electoralism is fuck" argument, since Harris is literally on the ballot.

She’s on it cause Biden put her there, not because anyone voted for her. She didn’t win a single delegate.

[-] pumpchilienthusiast@hexbear.net 10 points 4 months ago

she dropped out before several weeks before iowa and was polling fourth in her home state of california if I recall correctly

[-] underisk@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago

Yeah she clearly had no chance at becoming president because no one wanted her to win, and yet thanks to democracy she will probably get to hold that position anyway.

[-] ksynwa_from_lemmygrad@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago

Yeah. It's not a case like how Truss and Sunak became British prime ministers.

[-] 420blazeit69@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago

Plus ~~The Simpsons~~ Gerald Ford already did it

[-] Biggay@hexbear.net 10 points 4 months ago

All the VPs who later became presidents were the worst presidents.

[-] homhom9000@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago

Also the Supreme Court, whom you also didn't/don't/can't vote for, can rule on whatever they want and all you can (legally) do is watch.

[-] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 4 points 4 months ago

Biden just needs to start World War III and win the election and he'll get the FDR achievement.

[-] SwitchyWitchyandBitchy@hexbear.net 4 points 4 months ago

Technically we're supposed to be voting for the president/VP combo. But since they don't necessary have nearly as much power until the president eats it, I think most just vote president as long as the vp pick isn't that much worse than the other one.
