Fascinating. How did it end? The article is from 6 years ago so I would imagine the case is over, but I wasn't able to find an update

Last year, the publisher conceded that no plagiarism or copyright infringement had occurred, and a judgment was entered against the company, which paid undisclosed monetary damages to Quill and Ms. Ellis. (Ms. Cain is now self-publishing.)

I think the later lawsuit about false copyright notices didn't go anywhere.
