Look, i agree with that criticism, i've just been over all of these problems with little miss truscum in the last contrapoints hate thread we had two days ago, but i don't think that's why you people are so obsessed with her. Hexbear has, to give one example, zero qualms constantly riding the dick of openly transphobic anti-woke crank Norman Finkelstein, so if you people can tolerate that anti-BDS, anti-black, misogynist piece of shit but can't tolerate a piece of shit who is transfeminized, i know what's the actual problem.
I think people who think Arabs are human beings dislike her because she doesn't think Arabs are human beings, actually.
And of course all the posts about Contra's various ancient bad takes are relevant to that, right? Posting about her shit takes on Marie Antoinette from almost half a decade ago?

My point isn't to defend Natalie's takes on Gaza, not only because they are indefensible but because her position on the genocide isn't even the topic of this thread, it wasn't the topic of the last contrapoints hate thread three days ago either, it is barely ever brought up in spite of the fact that we collectively tear into her twice a week. My point is that the excessive focus on her is a symptom of hexbears' transmisogyny problem that nobody except the trans women on this site is ever willing to adress. Stop making up excuses for what is obviously transmisogyny, stop telling trans women that we cannot tell it's transmisogyny.
You even go out of your way and say "this is the same as people making up lies about Hasan's dog." You openly admit that this has reached the point of character assassination where it doesn't even matter anymore if an accusation is completely fabricated. and where the original problem that made somebody an acceptable target is now only trotted out as a flimsy after-the-fact justification. How am i supposed to treat somebody who thinks that kind of behavior is not only normal, but perfectly acceptable?
Hexbear has a serious casual transphobia problem. This isn’t even the only time it’s happened in the past couple of months, there was all the denial of Lilly Bushnell’s gender as well. Claiming that someone’s transphobia is acceptable just because they oppose genocide is honestly deplorable.
I really wish the admins would address it as it is one of the main things holding Hexbear back.
Yeah, i've been reminded of that as well. And honestly, it's the same as with hexbear's misogyny problem, hexbear's ableism problem or hexbear being really weird about (especially queer) sexuality and relationships, probably also applies to racism although i can't personally attest to that - when somebody from another instance does it, it's an instant ban, when an old account from hexbear does it, the post may get removed and maybe there's a temp ban when it's really blatant as in this case with the "having good takes on Gaza gives you a transphobia license" shit, but that's it, and there's never any reflection. Every time, a ton of affected comrades complain that this is, indeed, a problem while a ton of not affected comrades deny and downplay everything, make up excuses and refuse to learn and do better.

Hexbear is the best place on lemmyverse for trans people because that's an incredibly low bar to clear, as it is in so many other places online and irl. Even before the Contrapoints posting this week there was already a thread on that mega in response to another incident lamenting the fact that we can't even trust our cis hexbear comrades to not post transphobia. But at least in that case, he learned and apologized instead of posting excuses through it all.
Also the reason you're getting clowned on for "transwoman" is that the spelling is used to distance us from womanhood and put us into a third gender category. Please use trans woman going forward.

i won't defend the critical flaws of Finkelstein or Mearschimer etc, they get positive engagement when they say correct things or clown on people we don't like. maybe natalie should try saying something correct and heterodox about geopolitics or make an original dunk on somebody relevant?
Jesus, that’s really harsh, I really can’t recall Finkelstein saying something seriously problematic about trans or black people. Open to evidence that he is, I just have never seen that side of him. I know he mocks woke or w/e but I haven’t heard anything too bad

I really never pegged him for a transphobe or racist but I’ll defer to you on this. I hold him in high regard so reading about him in this light is kind of odd.
He’s fantastic at what he does, studying and chronicling the Palestinian genocide and the region’s history. One of the more powerful voices when it comes to this, and he’s distilled it for the western audience in a way few others have. It’d be extremely disheartening and disappointing if it did turn out that he’s actually a massive bigot against trans and black folk. I’ve seen him make jabs at woke before but I never really attributed it to a deeper reactionary vein in him. I just need to see it for myself

In the book he's excerpting from he goes into even further and more overt detail in the broader transphobic rant - his general opinion seems to be a rehash of the old 'homosexuality is bourgiese decadence' thing, but applied to being transgender instead.
It's really quite obvious and heinous in the book, there's even a moment where the conceptual connection is made clear and he went so far as to plausibly-deniably imply that being homosexual should still be considered a mental illness.
