A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

On one hand, it's disgusting how we treat some people.
On the other, I gotta love the irony. So you're telling me an AI knows what thousands of naked female bodies look like, but not this one woman, because we assume she's never posted a nude. So it takes her size, skin tone, and maybe assumes a few other things about her (like does she shave?) and it finds a nude body that matches what it knows about her and attaches her face/head to it. And now we're saying that's a nude of her?
I've seen probably hundreds/thousands of naked women online, and maybe a dozen IRL? And it's true what they say, you see one, you wanna see 'em all. But the original phrase is true, too. You've seen one, you've basically seen them all. Sure, there are size/style differences, but for the most part if you know what female genitals look like, what breasts look like, your imagination can do enough of the work. So can AI. It doesn't mean that woman has shown you her nude body, because that implies a level of trust. Or she's making money off of it or whatever.
I think it's high time we start accepting that if we don't see it IRL, chances are not zero that it's fake — and accept and treat it as fake until we're told otherwise. Because you never know. And the point I'm driving at is, we should assign an appropriate value to it — zero — until we're proven it's real.
So if you show me a nude woman, and she's of legal age and she's not related to me or someone I know, I'm probably gonna smile and nod. But if she's of any condition I don't like — not legal, and/or someone I know, and/or someone related to me — I'm just gonna assume it's AI. Because why the fuck not. Like your sister, maybe you were bathed together when you were kids, you saw when she was small, but you haven't seen her since puberty, since she's grown, and you don't want to. So say someone sends you a nude of her. It looks reasonably accurate. It's her face, her figure as best you'd guess, but you don't know what her nipples and vulva look like exactly and you've never thought to hazard a guess, or her pubic trimming/shaving situation, but now you're seeing that data... in this day and age, you have plenty of plausible deniability to say "there is a non-zero chance this is AI generated" and apply the appropriate value (zero) to that. Because a guy with a sister will look at nudes of women with the same figure as his sister, but he doesn't want to see nudes of his sister. So if he doesn't know what she actually looks like naked, why assume it's real? It's safer, and saner, to assume it's not.
So, why don't we, as decent or decent leaning men (or people, I don't mean to not be inclusive), just assume they're all fake? If for nothing else, for the sake of our humanity and theirs.
Disgusting from start to finish.
Shame on me for reading this long, droning insanity.
Ok story time. The point will be after. you remind me of my highschool classmate, 1996. In 2015, 19 years after we graduated, at a funeral dinner none the less, he asked me if I had ever been to the strip club in Lincoln. And if I haven't I need to go with him because they treat him like a king whenever he goes. It took everything in my wife and I power to not laugh. This guy still lives with his parents, and has never been in a relationship to this day.
So when you say "I've seen probably hundreds/thousands of naked women online, and maybe a dozen IRL? And it's true what they say, you see one, you wanna see 'em all." You sound exactly like him. 100% douchebag and forever lonely.
“And maybe a dozen IRL” makes me think this is absolutely a troll.
Reminds me of the old stripper / call girl flyers you would see all over Vegas. “Thousands of beautiful girls. And two ugly ones.”
What's even better is we haven't spoke since my wedding, this would have been 13 years earlier to this conversation.
In HS he was obsessed with these three girls from a different town, populstion 200, maybe if I'm being generous. looking back im pretty sure he was stalking them but I was clueless to that. But he always wanted to go to this town every Friday night, even wanted our group of friends to go with him. Sometimes we would and when we did, there would be nobody out cruising. And we would quickly go back to our town.
But every weekend we didn't go with him and he went himself.the following Monday at school it would be, oh man there were so many good looking girls out this weekend we need to go back
I'm actually starting to realize how cringe this was, now that I'm recapping. and he may have been a predator it's actually making me, now that I'm recapping, sort of nauseous. As there's so much more I could say. A lot of us did tire of his behavior and some of us were like he's an asshole but he's our asshole
What finally broke is he was a groomsmen and left during rehearsa to go find chicks in this same small town 6 years later. The guy peaked in highschool.
You are free to disagree but as a man who wants to be considerate and respectful to all people, this is my take on your comment.
Assuming fake and appreciating anything that doesn't contravene your own boundaries is vastly insufficient. The creation process is irrelevant. The objectification and accompanying dehumanisation is the problem.
That woman was denied agency in a manner that any and all right thinking men should be denouncing as being outside their boundaries, regardless of whether you have ever encountered the person in the images... If you aren't objecting, you're complicit as a member of the audience.
If you can't see how AI generated porn can be used to hurt someone then I don't know what to tell you You're a lost cause
Ah, yes... the "it's just a prank, bro" justification for sexual harassment. I'm sure that will put the victims' minds at ease.
The issue isn't really whether they're fake or not, it's that they exist at all. Whether or not they're real, the person can absolutely be upset that they've been made and further that they're being distributed. Profiting from it is just salt in an already gaping wound.
What a absolutely shit take. So if you're viewing AI generated child porn it's ok because it's AI generated and not real.
Dude that's a terrible take you have.
I don't condemn sex workers or porn stars, it's the life they chose, if women absolutely don't want to have so generated porn of them and you wouldn't either.
And what is done with that material can lead to even darker outcomes .
And here I am wanting musk to be arrested for his AI generating child porn , we are not the same
TLDR It’s on men to assume slop? I agree men are the problem here, but I think this is less about the images themselves (although that is what attracts the men) and more like: If you’ve ever had negative sex-based rumours or gossip going around about you (and this can be women too), this is like the latest form of that. It’s the feelings that ostracisation produces in you that are just gut wrenchingly painful rather than the facts
I didn't read all that.
If someone tells a lie about you, and it's a lie, but no one else is able to confirm that it's a lie, then it's as good as the truth.
So unless she posts real nudes showing that those are fake, they're as good as real.
