Is there literally anything only men like?

There are male biased things, ie. gaming, woodworking, wingsuiting, cimbing etc.

but are there any things literally only males like?

I know several women who listen to joe rogan unfortunately

[–] Jericho_Kane@lemmy.org 52 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I met a girl on tinder who believed and "teached" the goapel of andrew tate. So nothing is impossible.

I kinda really wanted to. Not really for obvious reasons, but i was really wondering what a person like that was like. Or what her place looks like. But every sentence she wrote was like diarrhea

Let he/she/they who has never suppressed a political opinion to a hottie throw the first stone

Oh you bet I'm throwing some boulders

Nothing is absolute, of course

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

maybe some things so incredibly niche that only one or two people total like them, if those people happen to be men?

[–] ChilledPeppers@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes, I and my brother invented a game that only we two know how to play.

[–] AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net 8 points 2 days ago

But is it a good game?

Nope. Even Fortran programers hate that vile language.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Hey I kinda like it :-(

[–] someacnt@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

That tracks, I like fortran because I never tried it.

[–] LGTM@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 2 days ago

Need a purge on the Fortran courses at my uni pls

They said men, not masochists

[–] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Of course not, absolutes don't exist...

only a sith deals in absolutes

Name one (besides there not being absolutes🅰

Urinating standing up. Its so much messier when you're a woman and writing half your friends name in snow with it is almost impossible.

[–] princessnorah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 21 hours ago

When I started my transition, I always sat to pee, because standing made me dysphoric. Now I don't really care at all :)

She-Wee for the win!

Some obscure math, and obscure programming languages. I dunno, but it feels like no women would be dumb enough to devote tons of effort into things like haskell-adjacent languages.

[–] RamenJunkie@midwest.social 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Learning that language is probably too much of a haskell for anyone really.

[–] someacnt@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

That doesn't really stop people, though.

Yes there is:

Only men like nothing.

Explanation:

"Only XYZ like ABC" is equivalent to: "Everyone who likes ABC is also an XYZ."

Since everybody likes at least something, there is no one who likes nothing. The statement: "Everyone who likes nothing is also a man" is true because the "Everyone who likes nothing" part results in 0 people. And it's true to say that everyone in a group of 0 people is a man. It's also true that everyone in a group of 0 people is not a man.

But other than vacuous truths, no sentence stating "Only man like XYZ" is true.

[–] TheNamlessGuy@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

To be fair, by that logic "Only women like nothing" is also true

[–] yetAnotherUser@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 20 hours ago

It is!

That's the fun thing about vacous truths: They allow both a statement and its inverse to be true.

[–] ch00f@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But only men like set theory, so…

This woman likes set theory because she was involved in a set theory workshop:

https://dmg.tuwien.ac.at/sandramueller/conferences/

But you're kind of right that it's not great that math is still a strongly male dominated field. There is not a single woman's name in the Wikipedia article for set theory, where I first tried to find a counterexample.

Also, you don't necessarily need set theory to arrive at vacuous truths. Logic is enough:

FALSE => [statement]

Still, I think vacuous truths are fun because they are meaningless. Especially because they have to be considered in math or else your carefully constructed proof becomes invalid.

I have no idea why you're being downvoted. Perhaps it's coming off as a bit rude to some?
