Final Fantasy XI

Final Fantasy XI is the eleventh numbered installment in the… Okay, you know what it is, I’m just going to tell you about one of the storylines!

During the Wings of the Goddess expansion, adventurers will be sent back in time to experience the events of the Crystal War, a cataclysmic event that is the foundation for conflicts of the modern-day timeline. Should an adventurer choose to serve the Kingdom of San d’Oria, they will be immersed in the story of the Young Griffons—a group of children who would see themselves knights, many of whom grow into prominent characters later in life.

Among the Young Griffons, the player will find Bistillot, a shy boy who doesn’t like to be seen. With his penchant for engineering, shy demeanor, and lack of combat potential, Bistillot prefers to spend his time inside of an orcish war machine that he was able to repair to working condition.

He is often seen before he is heard, with his signature phrase, “HAAAALLOOOOOOOOO” being used to hail the adventurer. Through the course of the story, Bistillot finds his way, even contributing to the war effort with his engineering skills.

However, when another member of the Young Griffons is kidnapped and taken to the present day, the adventurer must return to the present day and reunite with the Young Griffons’ present selves! The adventurer’s first contact in the present day is Bistillot. When the adventurer hears the signature “HAAAALLOOOOOOO,” Bistillot approaches the player, but what the player sees is… a woman?? She introduces herself as Bostilette, a “friend of Bistillot.”

After the rescue mission, Bostilette comes clean. She is, of course, the very same Bistillot who was a little boy twenty years earlier. She explains that she was very sick as a baby, so her parents gave her a boy’s name so that she would be stronger and survive the illness. Once she overcame the illness, she was comfortable to reclaim her name and gender. Well, that closes the book on that story, except… I’ve decided that’s bullshit!

I have unilaterally decided that Bostilette is trans, the sickness she had was dysphoria, she stayed in the orcish war machine because she was an egg, and I hope you all agree!

Dm one of them to change your profile or rally support of hexbears for maximum pronouns?

[–] Edie@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't know if they'll change your profile, I meant rally support for maximum pronouns.

4 months ago, when I changed mine, the code that actually handled setting the pronouns had no limits, makotech saw that and added a limit of 2 pronouns.

Omg YES! sicko-power leslie-shining You got Leslie’s pronouns by the way. That is so powerful.

I feel conflicted between ze/hir and xe/xem for secondaries tbh

I like "hir" being close but different to her and ze being a zesty they

But xe/xem is kinda neat too, idk if you pronounce those like "Xi" xicko and "zhem" like, rhymes with phlegm with the x making the sound of the j in "joie de vivre" but I think that's cute and is kinda cute and works well with my irl name,

nicholson-yes success

idk pronoun musing?I feel like I enjoy ze/hir more conceptually than I actually do in practical usage personally if that makes sense? Like the idea of a neopronoun is dope imo and it's more affirmative and provocative of my gender being like, Its Own Nonbinary Thing instead of "idk kinda in the middle of the binary but outside it but a little towards the femme side?" that I feel like other people are getting from me as a they/them person? I dunno

I posted this before probably, but I am in love with this fucking site http://www.pronouns.failedslacker.com/ if you haven't seen it, it has snippets from books and it puts you in as one of the characters, you put in pronouns and it basically writes about you in the third person. You can see how you feel about them.

But it does make sense wrt conceptually/practical usage ... I kinda feel the same way. The first time I hear someone refer to me as fae/faer I will be confused, lol, since I'm so used to she/her after 15 years of transition. But seeing it in typing just makes me go :3 and I can't really describe the feeling!!

It's like ... idk, there's something special about the fact that I chose them, they sound nice, and people are validating me by using them.

I know that a lot of people don't feel this way, but I don't think they/them is really for me. I find it kind of clinical (to be clear, only when used on me, I have zero problems using it on other people!!) and ambiguous, like it's saying nothing about me, but I want a positive statement about me from my pronouns. And, I think more people should take neopronouns (I'm trying to nudge my cis partner in this direction too :3) because idk I kinda love the idea of people having a way to express themselves so clearly through the speech of others, that's fucking awesome as it's like they best kind of allyship. I love hearing about everyone's pronouns and why they chose them and what they mean to them, you know?

All that said ... I don't know if I'll ever push people to use them, most people she/her me as-is which is fine, but less exciting. Maybe neopronouns are symbolic for me of me embracing an enby identity.

Edit: I'm not sure if this ramble made any sense to you, lol, sorry if not.

Also: I have finally decided on my Secret Pronouns, following up from the last thread, lol. I think it's it/its but only if you're cool and you're not using it in a dehumanizing way and we're tight and only sometimes.

Gah so cute I want to watch them do their cat activities (cativities?)

[–] QueerCommie@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I journaled for a few days in the third person with neopronouns. Was kinda fun. I use they/them for others by default but find it boring on myself.

I'm trying to nudge my cis partner in this direction too :3

Pet names with extra steps/j

[–] rtstragedy@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Journalling in the third person is a good idea! I might try that!

Also the pet names with extra steps made me laugh lol

[–] QueerCommie@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I like to try to study myself like a scientist but it got a little weird not referring to a name (besides subject) because I don’t particularly identify with a name and it’s weird writing it anyway. For all other time I have used second person perspective to sort of self criticize and give suggestions from a more objective seeming lense.

[–] rtstragedy@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah I think I'd be weird writing my own name in third person personal writing too. Kinda feels too detached for me.

[–] QueerCommie@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

Ah, but is it detached enough? badeline-yeah-right
