bluesky has done the impossible for a new social media site and attracted libs just as annoying and smarmy as on twitter

i'm not 100% of the time but i eat meat very occasionally, don't drink milk and only eat "nice" eggs (probably not much better than factory-farmed but i'm planning on getting chickens within a year). i don't think animal agriculture is fundamentally immoral but the industrialized system we currently have is abhorrent morally and environmentally. growing enough meat for westerners to eat it daily is unsustainable

none of the liberals who (rightfully) complained about Trump's violent rhetoric being reflected in real-world hate crimes seem fazed by Biden's support of war crimes against Palestinians

i have a deep hatred for cattle ranching and the people that do it. cattle grazing is incredibly destructive alone, not including the elimination of predator species like wolves that wrought havoc on Yellowstone. all so Americans can eat an unholy amount of beef

as an aside in the latest Trillbillies episode Terrence said that we need degrowth communism and it got me wondering what that means to everyone. to hopefully stifle any silly debates i'll clarify that i'm talking about the West, not underdeveloped/overexploited nations in the Global South.

an end to oil drilling, gas extraction, and coal mining will obviously be necessary to stop climate change. how much modern technology can we replicate without relying on those things or other ecologically violent resource extraction? what does an agriculture system that doesn't rely on petrochem-derived fertilizers and herbicides look like? how do we repair the immense damage that's already been done?

i'd really appreciate some book recommendations on this topic as well as everyone's thoughts

incredible that indie devs are able to release games for $10-30 that work on launch and make money but somehow AAA constantly needs new revenue streams

I’m not going to gamble with Trump’s fascistic Plan 2025.

fascism is already here in effect if not appearance. the president wants to pass an extremely draconian immigration bill and is simultaneously backing the wholesale slaughter of Palestinians. you need to understand that for all intents and purposes Biden is as bad as Trump, even on minority rights. the lip service from Democrats about book bans and abortion restrictions is worthless because they refuse to step outside the bounds of liberal norms to actually defend oppressed people.

a technical exploration of an HP laptop's "quick boot" features, ends with an excellent rant about the state of the technology industry that created them

i'm not going to hand it to Elon but i am glad this one guy can enjoy his life more. i really hope the implant continues to work in the event that Neuralink goes out of business; i'm reminded of that bionic eye (or whatever) company that re-blinded people when it shuttered

this is the kind of take you get from people who literally never leave the internet. a man doing an extreme act of self-sacrifice for a cause he believed in (and a cause that is plainly correct)? to the average person he's a hero, but to the internet-addled liberal he's a mentally ill tankie

it discusses the Synanon cult that was born out of AA, how it related to MKULTRA and 60s psychiatric research, and how it birthed the modern troubled teen industry.
