Honestly, I'm not sure if the Republicans would settle for just pushing to end the electoral college like the Democratic base already does. Especially considering this chain of events would result in Democrats suddenly vigorously supporting the electoral college.

It does give us a guess at how the popular vote might look, though. I can't really imagine a situation where the Republicans are the ones to take a popular vote win and an electoral college loss.

Talking to someone who justifies this kinda shit is always a trip. They'll say that people who aren't earning a living wage just need to work harder and pick up a marketable skill to improve their situation. But you can simultaneously get them to agree that many of these low wage "unskilled" jobs need to exist for society to continue functioning, so which fucking is it?

The answer is that the capitalist parasites and their horde of boot lickers believe it's totally acceptable for there to exist an underclass of human beings born to work until their bodies give out for the enrichment of their superior employer.

They can't afford to live a dignified life doing the shit I need them to do? That's fine, just toss 'em into the hole when they stop working and replace them with the next generation.

Honestly man, I'm getting real sick and tired of pretending to be above violent retribution when it comes to these people. My blood fucking boils each and every time I need to look my boss in the eye and pretend to smile as they say farcical shit like "we're all a family here" or "let us know if there's anything you need" while paying me exactly the minimum wage and hiring the exact number of employees it takes for them to avoid giving any of us enough hours to qualify for benefits.

There was one market that packed up and left gracefully without exit scamming: Agora.

The administrators announced it was shutting down in 2015, I recall their reasoning was they found a security vulnerability and decided maintaining the place wasn't worth the risk. They gave everyone a couple weeks to withdraw all funds before going offline for good, and that was that. Absolute legend of a market, probably the best there ever was. It kind of boggles my mind that someone in the position of those administrators running an illegal drug market would do this out of the kindness of their hearts when they could have just as easily taken the money and ran.

It seems there are two broad sects of pro-advertising assholes on the internet:

There are the people who believe watching ads is a necessary evil for art to exist at all, and their willingness to toil in the marketing mines is some sort of moral virtue they have over the ad blocking "freeloaders".

And there are the tech perverts who actually get excited about the latest fucking spyware hidden throughout their OS, browser, and apps because they take some sort of sick enjoyment in being subjected to increasingly personalized ads as if the only problem with marketing brainwashing is that it just isn't quite relevant enough to their interests yet.

The first group is annoying, but the second is genuinely terrifying.

I'm still not sure how exactly Hamas managed to get such a huge surprise attack going, nor how they managed to physically transport so many hostages back into Gaza. Did they just tie them up real good and somehow secure them to their paramotors?

It's amazing how quickly a doctor transforms into a fucking cop the exact moment discussion of painkillers comes up. That's the instant all pretense of treating/diagnosing your condition flies out the window. Instead they'll furiously conjure up bullshit excuses to invalidate your pain, call you a hypochondriac, or treat you like a lying drug addict. Or, as in this case, "protect" a hypothetical fetus.

The big problem is that this person isn't yet banned from Hexbear if they're able to see and downvote our posts. That means there is some transphobic creep out there stalking transgender users on Hexbear. We can't yet know if this person will try to sift through posts to dox trans people once they realize their downvotes have no effect.

That is a very common outcome when a transphobic freak feels their harassment isn't effective, see the entire history of KiwiFarms. And while we're on that subject, we also have no idea whether this person will organize raids on Hexbear by posting screenshots to the very many transphobic discord servers that literally only exist to mock and ridicule trans people in an attempt to pressure them into suicide.

Evil pieces of shit like this should most ideally be shot in the head. Second most ideally they should be publicly doxed and their friends/family/employer informed of their behavior. Without the means to accomplish those first two actions, the next best thing we can do to protect our trans comrades is to find out what account is doing this, and ban them to ensure they'll never be able to interact with Hexbear on that account again.

If the lemmy.ml admins are cooperative with that goal, then we can ensure the next reactionary on lemmy.ml who does this can't hide behind the anonymity of downvotes on their new, not yet banned account.

I also think it's pretty bizarre how we've ended up federated with SJW, but not Blajah. Not that there weren't users from Blahaj who had to go, but the difference between them and SJW is astronomical. There is no justifiable reason for SJW to be federated after we just defederated a large LGBT instance for reactionary takes that pale in comparison to those coming out of SJW.

That said, we're definitely not going to end up refederating with Blajah because the instance was just a few days away from deciding to defederate from us before we did it first.
