I lost my best friend and first "dog I adopted as an adult" a few weeks ago and it was so hard. Something that surprised me was how much comfort I took in people offering sympathy. You gave him a good life and loved him every day. May we all be so lucky

Return to 70s-80s NYC subway tradition

Am I reading this right...

NYT posts sensational/false weaponized sexual violence article sometime between October-December.

NYT is going to post a follow-up article, but faces crisis of either repeating false claims or downplaying how much sexual violence occurred, essentially admitting they lied earlier. This internal debate gets leaked to The Intercept

NYT conducts "witch hunt" interviews of staff to find who leaked to The Intercept.

That's how I read it. What I want to know, that this article didn't cover, is: where did the original bad reporting come from and why did it get published?

As someone who tried to ignore a ruptured appendix, this definitely didn't happen. I couldn't stand upright, I whimpered in my sleep, I couldn't eat. By the time I finally went to the ER, they kept me on an overnight hold with an IV of antibiotics. They couldn't attempt removal at the time because the swelling was so bad, so I took antibiotics for a month before things were settled enough to remove. The antibiotics gave me the superpower of being able to smell the awful and unique details of everyone's breath. Oh and the pain waking up from surgery was awful (searing hot pain at incision points, extreme discomfort while my body absorbed/processed out the gas they inflated my abdomen with) and they gave me the tiniest crumb of fentanyl and things were all better for about 30 minutes. After that, they literally told me to walk it off cuz they needed the bed for the next patient. All this cost me $10k out of pocket, AND I HAD INSURANCE.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Fuck a lot of things about America, but especially fuck its health care system

Looks like somebody took a bike pump to those piggies and made sure they were extra plump

i'd love to have a day with the fellas, participating in low stakes competition, light exercise, talkin shit, gettin fresh air, having some drinks. waiting in line, paying a bunch of money to walk on grass, being bad at hitting a ball with a stick, wearing dockers and polos, being surrounded by nerds. i'd like the first sentence without the second sentence
