I know international law is fake but would Putin's helicopter be a legal target?
We see this more generally with AI art becoming synonymous with fascist art and with conspiracies it's enabling everyone to become a shittier Alex Jones.
I think what LLMs and fascists have in common is that they fundamentally do not care about truth or reality. QAnon was so appealing to a lot of people because it had answers for everything. Insane answers, but answers nonetheless. LLMs also have an answer for everything, and more than that, if you ask it enough times with just the right phrasing, it will give you exactly the answer you want. Because again, ChatGPT doesn't know or care about what is actually true, it is a probabilistic algorithm, a glorified autocomplete.
Fascists do not care if 2 LLM answers to the same question directly contradict each other, just as they didn't care that Hillary Clinton never got arrested even though Q predicted that to happen on like 6 different occasions. They will simply pick the Grok answers they like and use them as proof. They don't care that their AI-generated mugshot of that one judge crying wasn't "real". They seek to collectively pretend reality into submission. If we all agree that something happened, it might as well have. And generative AI is perfect for that.
ChatGPT (or OpenAI) is not responsible for people seeking to reinforce their own beliefs, but it makes it easier than ever by effectively being programmed to validate the user's beliefs in an authoritative voice. You can't just create the DelusionReinforcer5000 and then go "it's not my fault people use it."
I recommend these lectures from Brandon Sanderson
I've never read any books from the guy but these videos are really good.
Outer Wilds is very different because the planets are tiny and I mean tiny.
Noone wants to work anymore
Thinking about how in Star Wars and virtually every sci-fi setting I can think of, planets are never more than just "one place" each. One city, one forest, one town, one military base. But most importantly, one biome. Planets are really, really large and the only inhabitable planet we know of has many different biomes! If we're talking about scale alone, you could reasonably have every event that happens in Star Wars take place in different spots on the same planet. Hell, they could all take place on Earth.
My labrador retriever who will literally jump at any used tissue she finds on the sidewalk once refused to eat a piece of sandwich I dropped on the floor
Made me think
I don't think there's anyone at the wheel at this point. The Trump administration is littered with complete buffoons, led by the biggest, wettest buffoon of them all. The people with the most power are genuinely just extremely stupid and they will not listen to the few competent ghouls remaining. The country is run by failsons, senile geriatrics, tech bros, FOX hosts and WWE wives.
Party like it's 2008
funniest outcome would be zelensky fleeing to russia
Somewhat related:
The other day I was at a party and the only other guy who was a leftist was, like me, from a bourgeois family. At one point we argued with an AfD (German far-right party) voter who was a car mechanic.
We were like "Look my guy here is gonna inherit >2M€ worth of property just for being a failson and no matter how hard you work your actually productive job, neither you or your children will ever get the same financial security, don't you think this is unfair?" and the chud was like "No, actually this is fair and good."
What do you even say to these people?
