Oh hell yeah buddy, I just got back from climbing a couple mountains today! Get out there and enjoy nature, hopefully there’s still something worth coming back to after

I actually met a pasty 6’+ trans woman there and she had very positive impressions of the country, of course ymmv. The heat might be more of in issue in Japan than Mexico though, 90+ with high humidity well into September in Tokyo while Mexico City was low 80s in April/June.

I work in the spreadsheet factory but have been fully remote for almost 3 years, lost the only reason I had for staying in the US so I’ve become one of those gentrifying digital nomads

I’ve been spending this year living in different countries for a few months each to see where I want to ultimately end up. Been to Mexico, Japan, and currently Korea. I think Japan is by far the most trans friendly of those three, I met a lot of super cool trans/nb/gender nonconforming people there and the vibes were really good. Ofc I can only speak from second hand experience as a cis guy but it seemed like a really welcoming place overall.

Mexico City has a pretty sizable lgbtq+ community, my trans brother and his husband have lived there for two years with no issues. People are still generally less open about it though and I’d be wary of anywhere outside of CDMX as they tend to be much more catholic/reactionary.

Korea is uhhh not a good place to be a cis woman let alone gay or trans. Some of the men here can be incredibly hostile and outright violent to anyone outside their narrow range of “acceptability”. I’ve had numerous friends get harassed and assaulted by drunk assholes on the street before. 1/10 would not recommend

Taiwan, Vietnam, and Thailand are next up and from what I’ve heard are some of the most trans friendly places in Asia, I can keep you posted on how that pans out lol

I find it far more rewarding when I go into it with zero expectations and just kinda tease the real personality out of someone. I think practicing the ability to cut through all the bullshit is itself a worthy endeavor regardless of the outcome

Yeah it’s really disheartening to see intelligent, well intentioned people keep falling for the same shit over and over. Honestly if someone I was talking to revealed they’re super into healing crystals and such I’d still respect their intellectual capacity more than someone that buys into western propaganda hook line and sinker https://youtu.be/bLZW-kWr1F4

After bouncing around between dozens of different jobs in my “professional” career all I can say is that you should never settle for a job you hate. It doesn’t matter how well you’re paid if you’re absolutely miserable, that misery will permeate all other aspects of your life and crush you. If you’re dancing on the knife’s edge of precarity it can make sense to take a bad job short term but do NOT settle, apply for other positions on the clock. My previous job was absolute hell but I needed the money to survive, kept applying and doing interviews for other positions until I eventually found one that was pretty decent.

Your instincts here are good, you are a valuable person that can offer a lot to a company willing to compensate you appropriately and treat you well. We are pressured into accepting the first offer that comes our way regardless of how bad it may be but if you know your own worth and have patience you will eventually find something worthwhile. Don’t feel bad about it, feel proud that you have the self confidence to say “no”

Can confirm, I’m the shortest one in my family at 6’2”. Several cousins are 6’8”+

I fully agree that it’s a dumb question that presupposes the existence of some ethereal “essence” for the question to not be completely preposterous. My ex did not see it that way and did legitimately get very upset with me for responding in a similar way to the OP.

I think the anger was based on her concept of love being an idealized force that transcends the physical and can truly be “forever” which also would necessitate there being some lingering trace of a person remaining regardless of their physical form. Not sure though, she didn’t exactly elaborate and just screamed at me for a while

Holy shit the emojis here never cease to amaze, can’t think of any other place where “distressed Foucault” is not only the most perfect reaction to a post but also already exists

Yeah this one’s me, I only wake up ~15 minutes before work starts and usually get sidetracked catching up on stuff. I’ll then take a shower some time during the day when there’s a lull, about to take one right now lol

I'm surprised to not see more posts about this here, not only has brandon let Roe v. Wade be overturned but now this shit too? I'm not saying that the EPA and other federal agencies are even remotely effective at controlling corporate malfeasance but damn, they're not even going to pretend to try any more. Now our lovely panel of unelected geriatrics can completely disregard all evidence and basic logic their own stooges are permitted to put forward in favor of whatever "special interest group" "lobbies" them hard enough. It's so funny to hear libs keep repeating that trump will DESTROY democracy when things like this that actively undermine their own internal logic of "justice" and "democracy" are constantly happening

If you're on pc there's a lovely little mod that adds every item to the first merchant in the game, it's a game changer for experimenting. I found some cool bow talismans late in the DLC and wanted to start a new character to play through the whole game again but the prospect of having to go through 90% of it just to get an integral part of the build got me to finally "cheat" and I am I never going back. I've been able to just play the game and have fun doing the parts I actually want to instead of hunting down every bell bearing again and consulting the wiki constantly to ensure I don't accidentally break some obtuse npc quest chain that gives me an item I need. I also used it on my level 200 character so that I could play around with different weapons without grinding out a million+ souls to buy the stones and level them, having an infinite number of respec items is also great. The game clearly doesn't respect the player's time so why respect it at this point? I've already had "real souls vets" tell me that uncapping the framerate and playing in ultrawide is cheating so fuck it
