Women and men are both 'expected' to do a lot of various things. I think the main issue is that the average man doesn't care, while the average woman does care and adheres to the expectations.

I see this happen so often with women. They keep following some stupid, made up rules, and then complain about it afterwards. Whereas men will just ignore them. Of course, there are many women who don't have this problem, and many men who do.

It should be noted that affected people are not at fault here. Nobody chooses what personality they are born with. In many cases this is actually a positive trait. So perhaps the core issue is society abusing this characteristic.

A good number of that is 3D artists. Try making a highly detailed 3D model in Blender. Now imagine a game like GTA V has thousands of those, but even more detailed. This is one of the major reasons why AAA are taking longer and longer to produce. At the same time, game systems and mechanics are simplified to cut costs.

I've worked in the video game industry for a couple years and have been credited in several games. This number may actually be higher.

It may sound crazy, but there's a lot of people working on AAA games, usually most of them completely unrelated to game dev. Marketing, public relations, translators, 3D graphics artists, sound designers, orchestra performers, motion capture stuntmen, voice actors. Probably a few dozen managers, who have never even seen the game. Hell, some companies even credit IT staff in the game's credits.

That's already a whole bunch of teams. It's also important to mention that many third-party contractors will often be skipped from the credits. QA is very commonly outsourced (to poorer countries like Romania or Serbia) and rarely gets into the credits. You may only see 5-10 names, while in reality it was at least 100. This is true for several other fields, though mostly non-game-related, e.g., localization, promotial material, merchandise.

I won't disclose in what capacity, but in the past I have worked on several of Blizzard's titles for a few months and I'm not credited anywhere. Just like at least a couple hundred other people. Not necessarily saying I should be - it was never mentioned or promised. Just highlighting that the real number of staff that worked on the game (or adjacent to the game) may be above 10k.

Some things are - on purpose - made easy to misuse and - by design - accessible to people, who are likely to misuse them. All this money, this supposedly cutting edge technology, and reporting to the police, but they aren't able to tell when a child is at risk and report it as well?

Smells like bullshit to me. More like they don't care. I'm not so sure children should even be allowed to use chatbots in the first place. Or only allowed to use versions specifically trained for interactions with children. But of course - banning children from accessing youtube and wikipedia is a much more pressing concern.

Hey everyone! As many have noticed, the PinePhone Pro is currently out ot stock on the Pine Store. Unfortunately we have to deliver you the following news: the PinePhone Pro is officially discontinued. We were told it didn’t sell well enough to keep production going. But the good news for current owners are that spare parts will still be made for up to two years, depending on demand. Meanwhile, the trusty PinePhone (A64) is still alive and kicking, and Pine Store plans to keep it rolling for about two more years.

Well, that sucks. So I guess the better move here would be to wait for something new? I don't think the regular PinePhone is at all viable as a daily driver.

Ah yes, let's take absolute control over online discourse from one private, for-profit organization and give it to another. That'll fix everything!

While Bluesky seems [mostly] fine right now, it's not a long term solution. We need public online spaces that aren't owned or governed by any single entity. Or more appropriately - we need to improve the ones we already have and do whatever we can to bring people here.

Also, Bluesky has terrible algorithms and gives almost no control over your main page. I kept seeing exclusively political content from one specific side in my country (including some very obvious bots). Pressing 'Show less like this' on a few dozen posts every day produced no results over a few weeks. This ultimately led me to delete my account, as it made no sense to browse a platform that is actively showing me only the things that I don't want to see.

The 'necessary thing' is voting for a fascist multi millionaire? He may be slightly better than the current guy, since the bar to pass is so low, but he's very far from an actually valid candidate.

I understand different people have different situations in which the 'necessary thing' may vary. However, he'll only solve a handful of current issues plaguing the USA, if even that. From whefe I'm standing (which arguably is quite far away as I'm a European) you'd achieve much more by protesting. Especially given that there may not be another election in your country. Though I'm also aware protests in the USA may come with serious risk of injury or loss of life.

OnlyOffice, not OpenOffice. This is a different suite entirely. Might be better for people coming from MS Office, since it looks practically identical. Also supports opening multiple files as tabs.

I'm a huge fan of Pine64, but I wouldn't expect the PinePhone to be a great replacement for an Android smartphone. Personally I have quite extensive experience with PineBook Pro, PineTime and PineBuds Pro. I haven't had the chance to try the PinePhone, but I'd definitely go for the Pro.

Even then, prepare for a junky experience and forget about lixuries such as good camera, nice screen, smooth UI/UX. Their devices are great, and the ideas behind them more so. But unfortunately they rarely work well, perhaps with the exception of PineBuds Pro.

I don't know why anyone would ever subject themselves to the torture of using Vivaldi. It's made by developers of Opera - the most bloated, spyware-infested web browser on the planet. Sure, it may be slightly better, but we'll never know for sure, since it's closed source. Honestly this might be a downgrade, even compared to Chrome. Anything else here would be an improvement.

Other than that, I'd replace Bitwarden with KeePassDX and Bitwarden Auth with Aegis. There's no shortage of decent password managers and 2fa apps.
