I planted about 50 Johnny jump up seeds and none of them made it. I just noticed this little guy growing in moss of all places on my neighbor’s wall. So don’t give up hope and I would like to ask people to spam the houseplant/garden related communities. I’m missing some greenery in the fediverse.

That’s soo cool. Never thought a dialogue from Jurassic Park would prove itself right so many times.

Nope. Just wanted to drive traffic to other communities too. If this post doesn’t meet guidelines please take it down.

I'm not a moderator, it just confused me to see a plant post in this community lol. It's hard for people/communities to grow on decentralized platforms so I understand

That’s okay :)

Oof. The fruit kinda looks like a Raspberry though.

It is mixed in with some blackberries..there are some losses in the process. Fortunately blackberries thrive on abuse.

Meanwhile I’ve been trying for three years to get blackberries/raspberries to grow in my front bushes and here you’ve just ravaged them WHILE THEY WERE FRUITING, ugh!!

[-] fireduck@lem.trashbrain.org 1 points 1 year ago

Heh, the blackberries will do fine regardless of what I want. I wasn't trying to take them, some just got mixed in.

I'm in Austin Texas. We got this guy around mid spring and it was bright pink. We've tried full direct light, bright indirect, half and half, putting it indoor and outdoor. It's pretty much all green now. How do we get that pink back?

[-] zoobiedoobie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The pink color is because the plant gets sun stressed. If you’ve tried putting it out in full sun and if it still hasn’t helped then I would recommend using an LED light in the 5000K range (daylight), 1500-2000 lumens and upto 30 watts should help. LED/ Grow lights are what people in the plant world use to sun stress their plants consistently and it gives better results than putting it out as the sun is not harsh all day long. LED lights with these specifications should work for houseplants and you need not buy expensive grow lights. Make sure the plant gets used to the bright light slowly as direct exposure can cause sun burn. Good luck
