You really only need to know 5 states, california (this covers the entire west coast), NY (this covers everything north of Maryland), Florida (this covers everything south of North Carolina), Texas, and everything else is Ohio.

I drove from Chicago to Nashville a few years back and it was the most boring fucking road trip I've ever done. Apart from the weird truck stops with tigers and all the anti-abortion billboards.
Not actually the region, since the region in the meme is essentially southern Illinois, but western Illinois is sometimes referred to as Forgottonia because of the neglect and absence of public investment in the area.
