Stardew Valley has an OK fishing mini game and I'm not afraid to say it
I agree on the basis that it's a) fine and b) not mandatory in any meaningful sense.
I ain't going to the desert on a rainy afternoon on the 19th of Spring to catch a legendary fish or whatever. I got PINEAPPLES and a WIFE.

i think its the most fun part of stardew. when theres no real "game" to it or feedback like in terraria i do think its boring
Admittedly I certainly have not played Stardew since it's not really my type of game but I think if you're going for cozy life sim fishing is fine since cozy life sim with not that much going on is the entire gameplay loop anyways, I can make peace with fish gamers, however I do think Stardew valley should be renamed to fishing valley,

Person who made this has clearly not played Sega Bass Fishing 1/2nor Marine Fishing. Maybe that description applies to Reel Fishing or something.

Terraria is a 8.5/10 game that drops down to at least 7/10 just because of the fishing. I don't understand what Redigit was thinking when he added it (unless it was spite, then it makes sense).
Fishing is a rainy day activity in my Minecraft world because I like the silly sounds it makes
Minecraft auto fishing isn't even that broken imo, it's good but not broken. You have to make a whole set up and afk, and the loot is largely trash. Unlimited food isn't that hard to set up (I usually get a hoglin set up, but chickens are even easier), and the treasure loot table is so big you really don't get that many max enchants. It's inconsistent. And then you have to sort through a massive pile of junk to find a handful of good books for your armor.
Villager trading is harder set up wise but super consistent once you do. It only gets better the more players you have because the set up is all the work, once you have your trades you get unlimited of the best books.
Fishing is hard to improve once you get a max rod and even if you sort out unstackables, it's a ton of junk. You don't need a fire prot 2 book. Or another fishing rod. I feel like you get so much garbage it's not even really worth it unless you have it automated.
